Every musician that works on a stage needs a direct box in their arsenal. This is a solid choice for converting unbalanced 1/4 inch male to a balanced low impedance mic female output. There is a ground lift switch that help reduce any buzz you might hear when you connect your guitar or keyboard. Because of it’s small size, they get knocked around a bit. The raised corners on this unit provides some added protection.

Today we could not get the mix out of our bass player’s amp. He plugged the XLR directly into his amp, but no sound came through. Thankfully, we plugged the XLR into the Passive Direct Box, connected the amp’s output, and it worked like a charm! This simple device saved our show and ensured the sound came through loud and clear, exactly when we needed it.Pros:✔️ Easy to Use – The Passive Direct Box made it effortless to convert the XLR signal from the amp to a clean, balanced sound without any hassle.✔️ Compact & Effective – Despite its small size, it packs a powerful punch, converting unbalanced signals to balanced microphone-level output seamlessly.✔️ Clear and Pure Audio – The box handled impedance and signal matching, giving us pure and clean audio whether we were connecting instruments like guitars or keyboards to amplifiers and mixers.✔️ Shock-Proof Design – Equipped with four shock-proof foot pads, the unit stays put and ensures smooth use in dynamic stage environments.✔️ Great After-Sales Service – The product comes with a 1-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind if any issues arise.Cons:❌ No Active Options – While the passive design works great for most setups, it might not be ideal for active setups where more power is needed.❌ Limited Features – It’s a no-frills device, meaning it’s perfect for simple setups but lacks additional features like tone control or additional outputs.Final Thoughts:This Passive Direct Box is a must-have for any live performance or rehearsal. It saved our day with its easy setup, clean audio output, and compact design. While it doesn’t offer extra features, its straightforward approach makes it the perfect tool for ensuring sound clarity in almost any situation. Definitely a show-save

This is a nice DI box that should hold up well for light duty such as a home studio. The housing is a thinner metal and can withstand some limited bumps, but would not hold up well under touring or live audio applications. The product description states that it includes a shock-absorbing pad, but this is not the case. The corners of the unit are a hardened plastic that will transfer physical shocks from dropping directly to the case. Rubberized corners and feet (i.e., a true "shock pad") would have been much better at creating a shock-absorbing barrier, and rubber feet would have helped keep the thing in place better. This will scoot all over a smooth, hard floor or desktop surface with the hard plastic pads this unit is equipped with and is designed to rest on.Another shortcoming of the product is that the nuts that hold the 1/4" jacks in the case appear to be made from plastic. These will not hold up well over time and use.Overall, this is not a great value, as there are competitively priced products available that have rubber feet, thicker metal casings, and metal nuts holding the connectors in place.

I got this to replace spare DI that finally burned out. I’ll only use this on dates where I’m relying on a provided back line, as all amps don’t have a dedicated pre/post DI output. I’ve often had gigs where the house doesn’t use a DI. I generally prefer a DI to sticking a 57 in front of a bass amp on a small bandstand, due to inevitable leakage from a nearby drum kit.I can always send a treated signal from a stomp box into the DI and ask (plead with) the front-of-house to not mess with it too much. This item is quiet and sturdy. Passive, so no discernible coloration or signal fade. It does, however, feature a 0, -20, and -40dB attenuator, if the mixer gain is set too high. Would prefer -10 and -20, but if the gain is correctly set or padded on the board you shouldn’t need either. Still nice to have something, though, for extreme situations you run into on gigs. Also has the necessary Hi-Z insert, as well as a nice output jack to feed a headphone/in-ear mixer. Finally, there’s a ground lift if you end up with a power loop in your signal.I’ve tested this in my home studio and I’m confident this will serve its purpose.

Got this DI box to go from bass -> console -> computer. It does what I need it to do, is priced well, and seems well built. No complaints.
