A 3-position load switch lets you optimize for orchestral instruments with piezo pickups and acoustic, electric, and bass guitars with magnetic pickups, as well as older low-output instruments, while a variable highpass filter eliminates rumble and (in conjunction with an onboard polarity reverse) eliminates feedback. I have an NS NXT bass with all passive piezo electronics, it sounded pretty crummy through a regular DI. The difference with this high impedance box is night and day, low end that absolutely rumbles without fluttering, smooth and rich high up on the neck, sounds great even before amp modeling.

As an engineer, the first time I deployed it on stage was for a bluegrass gig. Bass was an old Kay with a pair of passive bridge clip pickups, and the player complimented the tone. Good enough for me. Used it several times now for other instruments with various impedance settings, and I’m pleased. Bought another.

Bought this to record my Taylor 324ce at home direct into my Presonus interface. Without it the guitar wasn’t loud enough even cranked full volume which created some buzz issues. The DI allowed me to turn the volume down past half way on my guitar and still be much louder than before and have better tone. Also, if you’re having grounding buzz issues like me, especially while using an external monitor display, (my house was built in the 60s before there were ground wire codes), if you place your bare foot on the DI it creates a ground which eliminates the buzz while recording. Was having a problem with an acoustic guitar pickup on stage. This DI has all the features to impedance match the guitar pickup and pad the level down. Used it at rehearsal and then live gig. Works great!

This is the DI box you should buy for your piezo equipped instrument. Very straight forward and natural sounding. Worth every cent! Don't look for anything else, unless you need tons of knobs to shape your sound.
