Quilt in a day dose it again. Its a great tool to make flying geese. Its easy to use to make wonderful flying geese. Elanor Burns "Quilt in a Day" products are always worth it. Watch her on YouTube to learn how to use it.

This ruler and the specific instructions for constructing the flying geese enabled me to make several pieces that were consistently the correct size. Therefore, sewing was easy for matching seams. I tried other techniques but that involved additional steps and did not yield the same results.

This took a bit of reading and re-reading and practice. It's a great ruler, very precise. A little spendy, but most rulers are. The downside is each ruler only creates two sizes of flying geese. There are other sized rulers available, but you're still limited if you want to do itty bittys or large flying geese. Each ruler creates two sizes of flying geese, but each one is another expenditure. My favorite, most accurate method is foundation paper piecing, but then, I love FPP 😀.

Thank God for directions! Although I saw Eleanor use this on her TV show, I wouldn't have remembered how to do it except for the enclosed directions. I grabbed some extra fabric and made some smaller flying geese and the larger flying geese that this unit was designed for.It did what it was advertised to do, and made lovely flying geese. Here's the problem I ran into, though: because the units had to be trimmed down to size after all the sewing was done, you have to hold the ruler on top of the unit. That doesn't sound so bad until you realize that there is a bump in the fabric where the triangles intersect each other at their point. So, when you hold the ruler over the top of the unit, that bump holds the rest of the ruler in the air. Thus, it is really easy for the ruler to slip off the unit and get an inaccurate cut. Also, unless you cut all four sides at once, holding the ruler very firmly, you don't get an accurate cut. But, it's almost impossible to cut all four sides without moving the ruler. The directions tell you to use a small cutting mat and twirl the mat around to get all four sides. That was very awkward, and again, I had trouble with the ruler staying in place. So, I doubt that I'll use this ruler again, although I might as the concept is good, but the actual use doesn't quite ah, measure, up (forgive the pun).

Love this flying geese ruler which has two sizes of geese. Once you get the the hang of making the geese, it can go quickly. Eleanor Burns has the neatest quilting items. her books are very logical to understand and help make quilting fun. I've been quilting a few years and enjoy Eleanor's techniques the most. In her books she shows through instruction and photos how to use her items, like the ruler to make quilts. Highly recommend this ruler.
