Easy to Use
Once locked in the down position, the words "ACTIVATED" appear in bright yellow on the top and part of the handle protrudes from the bottom as a visible sign. Push in and pull down on the handle to activate the normally open alarm switch.

I bought this for my son who has a fascination with fire alarms he loves it never used it for what it's intended for so I'm no help on that

It doesn’t have “ACTIVATED” in yellow but in black.The cover is loose but it still works.Don’t use this for an actual alarm system as it’s not up to code.Overall it’s is very good.

Our sweet child is obsessed with fire alarms so we got this for him to play with. For *weeks* he took it everywhere and pulled the switch and then unlocked and reset it. I was worried that he might pinch his fingers in the hardware but he's smarter than your kids.

I use it for a novelty to turn on a switch for lamps and music and it works wonderful. Would NOT use as part of an actual fire alarm system as it does not meet code and specs.
