Know that the external switching power supply is rated at +-15V instead of the API spec of +-16V. Also, it supplies +5V to the box that is then converted to +48 for the phantom power. That is just too much messing around. Several modules do not work properly in this unit. Go for the six slot version, the SixPack, far better for a little more money.

Received the first unit, module would not even contact slot 1, kissed slot 2, slightly entered slot 3. Replacement had same defect, except slot 2 actually seated. Poorly engineered.

I purchased one of these about 7 months ago. Ended up chatting with Radial headquarters before I purchased, they were more than kind and capable. I needed a nice small and reliable 500 series style box and didn't want to purchase a larger one. This thing is legit built like a tank. If you ever dropped this on someone, you'd do some serious damage. The built quality is second to none. I have 2 Neve 1073 preamps and 1 neve eq. Runs all 3 units without hesitation. Has convenient link feature to patch one unit into another without using patch cables. Takes up a small malunt of real-estate in your studio. Great for running bass, guitar or vocals into it with my current setup. Best part if you ever wanted to unplug it and bring your box over to another studio, it's as simple as carrying a lunch box. Highly recommend.

I picked this up from Sweetwater and put 2 Rupert Neve 511 pre-amps in it plus an API blank panel. The main feature that sold me on the Radial Cube was that it had quarter-inch in/outs and XLR in/outs on each slot. It has an “omni-port” for certain modules but heck if I know which ones would require that port.My only complaint is that it didn’t come with the tool to put it all together. It came with the proper screws, rubber feet, but no tool to assemble everything. I ended up having to go to Home Depot to find the proper tool.I thought 3 slots was a strange number but I think the idea is that you can make a channel strip: pre-amp, EQ and compressor.
