I bought this to use as a radio clip on my duty belt. Thought it would be perfect since my belt is 2in wide and this says it works for up to 2.25in. Well….. it doesn’t fit. It is technically wide enough, but the little teeth that keep it closed aren’t long enough to actually latch. So it pops open every time I sit or touch the radio. Disappointed since it is a great concept and it would probably work on a standard leather belt that’s a little bit thinner, but definitely a no go for a duty belt or anything Molle compatible.

I’ve never used a clip style radio holster like this before. I am used to pouch style holsters that enclosed the radio. So I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with this but I thought I’d give it a shot. I am really glad that I did. This clip style radio holder gives continuous access to all of the controls at the same time. Plus, since it depends on the radio’s included belt clip, it utilizes the hook at the bottom of most belt clips to keep it from sliding up and off. At no time while wearing the holster did it feel like it or the radio was going to break loose. One of the best features about this holster is how fast it can be put on and taken off. Two buttons at the base release the front half so that the whole unit can be opened at the hinge on top like a clam shell. A simple plastic bar inside can be adjusted for the width of your belt by just popping it out of one hole and moving it to the next. I love simple, uncomplicated designs like this. A small L-shaped section molded into the back protrudes into the belt area to maintain tension on the belt and keep it from sliding. While in the open position, you just slide it onto either side of the belt and close it until it clicks into place. It’s really super fast. I would say that it’s right on par if not faster than sliding on a paddle holster. The looped area in front that takes the radio clip has plenty of room and should accommodate most radios. One exception that I discovered is that it would not fit my Realistic HTX-202, but that is not surprising at all, considering that that thing is a beast and has a huge, ultra wide clip on it. I just thought I would mention it just in case. I measured the opening on this holster, and it should accommodate clips up to a one and a half inch in width and 1/2 inch thick. The elastic band at the bottom, which has a large plastic tab for control, easily wraps around most radios. I am used to elastic cords like this going over the top of radios and devices not usually around the bottom, but it totally makes sense for this design. The hook on the bottom of the belt clip maintains vertical retention, and the cord keeps the radio from flopping around, plus it also cinches the clip up tight to the holster at the same time. The other great thing about keeping the cord off the top of the radio is that it doesn’t interfere with the controls. All in all, I think this is a fantastic little radio holster that will be getting a lot of use as an EDC or every day carry item for me.

I've used this radio holster several times on a standard width elastic braided belt with my Baofeng UV-5R and have not had any issues with the radio staying in place and the holster remaining attached to my belt. I'm a bigger guy and it works well for me even when sitting down. It includes an elastic strap to keep the radio securely in place and removing and re-inserting the radio can be done with minimal effort. My only concern is the design of the mechanism that clips the holster around the belt. It appears to be a small plastic nub that inserts into an opening, which you would then squeeze the sides of the holster to release the clip. While it's worked fine so far, I question how long this will continue working before it fails. I think a better locking mechanism would ensure better long-term viability of this item. Otherwise, it's doing exactly what it was intended to do.

I like that it holds my radio a little bit away from my body, keeps the antenna from poking me in the ribs/armpit. Should come with a few spares of the part that is used to adjust for belt width - the one that's there stays in pretty well but if you're using with multiple-sizes of belts I can see how it would be very easy to lose. Release button is a little too easy to press, especially if the radio is up against another item on your belt that is close to the button - one wrong move and the button gets pressed and you've lost your comms!

The locking mechanism does not work, even when fully attached to a 1.5 inch belt it can easily be pulled off. Do not waste your time and money.
