I got this to use on the top of a homemade rain chain. It turns out to be nicer than the top we have on a bought rain chain--same idea, the v-shaped piece fits on the gutter and the s-like hook slips onto the top link of the chain. The v-shaped piece on this clip is sturdy, doesn't bend at all, and I like that feature. Not fancy, but nice looking and does its job well.

This is such a simple and easy way to get your downspout opening converted to a rain chain. There are several other options out there that do the same thing but none of them are quite so simple and a lot of them take some time to instal or require tools and actual physical alterations of your gutter. This one does not require you to do any alterations and you shouldn’t need anything to install it. Once it’s on I love how easy it is to get the rain chain on. Just hook it on and you’re good to go. Definitely saved me a lot of time and frustrations.

The design of this rain chain holder was nice and modern looking. Our gutters were already installed and the slot to put the rain chain holder in was too narrow. We were able to easily bend the rain chain holder (felt a bit too easy IMO hence the lower review) but still couldn't get it to fit through the slot. We ended up not using it but would have liked to have given it a try. I think it would have created a nice look and flow to our rain chains but maybe others can comment on that.

All I had to do was attach the hook (which can't just blow off in my down chute) and then drop the hook hanger in through the top of my gutter. Easy peasy!While I hadn't planned to screw this in anywhere, you can see from my photos that there are no holes in it. One of the product photos shows it screwed into a beam on the ceiling. So just be aware there is no way to screw this into place.

My rain chains didn't come with a great way to attach them to the gutters. On one of them I used a thick copper wire bent that worked but was a bit of a pain. I take them down in the fall before they freeze up and then put them back up in the spring. This clip makes it so much easier.The metal part the clip hooks onto can easily be shaped by hand. I had to make it a bit narrower to fit inside the hole on my gutter. It took just a few seconds and the clip was in place and the chain hung. My chains are longer than most and are solid copper. The clip easily handles the weight of the 10' chain.

So, let's say you are enamoured of rain chains and picked up a cute one on vacation at the coast, but now you have to figure out how to get the cute rain chain actually hooked up to your rain gutter and there's no way your husband will let you hire a contractor for it because you promised him it would be simple and cute and not hard to install. You need this thing. This is the thing that sits in the gutter keeping the chain from falling to the ground. It's not pricey, but it will save all sorts of weird jerry-rigging to have the right part for the job. You're welcome
