This lamp provides great coverage for our crested gecko's UV light. We have it connected to a timer to go on 12hrs daily, so hopefully our gecko will be much happier and healthier now!

If you read through the reviews you can see it isn't just mine but a lot of people's lamps are coming in dented. This lamp will still work dented but it isn't as optimal. It has a decent cord length and a toggle switch just like normal lamps.Overall it is a good lamp and I would rate it higher but coming in dented to high hell makes it just not as efficient and seeing as I am not the only one with this issue... Hard to justify them not fixing it in a way to send out undamaged products.

The thing I like most about this ball holder is that it is taller which allows you to use some of those huge CFL bulbs without any issue of them touching the surface which is a problem I have had with others this one sits it up quite high has a ceramic holder as well as a full metal construction so there's no worries about anything burning or heating up in heat lamp use. The corn is about standard with the others I have actually looks to be identical the quality seems on par with everything else I've tried and use I don't know about longevity if it breaks right away I will report that back to you all. Note one thing I did notice with this holder is one of those huge CFL bulbs that I mentioned earlier would not operate in this lamp for some reason I tried a regular incandescent light bulb as well as a heat lamp the heat lamp went in and worked fine I believe it's something to do with the depth of the probe inside of the reciprocal holder I think it is set in too deeply and the UVB bulbs Have a very shallow electrode in the middle which I believe is not deep enough to come into contact with the lamps output. This will change from bulb to bulb!

I got this for some outside animals I have. We usually don’t have cold temps this early in the year in NC but temps at night are getting chilly already and we want a few outside animals to be nice and warm and got this to do so. I wanted the larger lamp to maximize heating and it certainly feels like it works well based on the warmth I feel near it. I like the look and feel of this lamp—seems well made. I will only need to use it maybe 3 months out of the year and am hoping this heat lamp will last me years. If I have any issues with it I will update this review.

I am using this for some chicks currently but we have a tortoise that we will bring inside for winter.The shade is a bit over 8 inches wide I think so it will warm a larger spot than some of the other reflectors I've seen. Not necessarily a fault, but this will only handle a 100watt bulb and many heat lamps are higher than this. Luckily I had a 100w ceramic heater that works fine with this fixture. All my bulbs were 150.It has a toggle switch to turn the unit on and off which is nice but it is hard to tell if a ceramic type heating bulb is on and the on and off are hard to see. Not a big issue at all and well worth having the toggle.My main issue with this is that there is supposed to be a hanging assembly included and my box was missing it. I don't even see writing on the box that indicates it is supposed to be in the box but I'm having to hang it from the cord and I really don't like that.I am able to touch the edge of the reflector without burning myself but I haven't tested near the base. It will work for my needs but I wish it had a higher wattage rating.
