This is a very well made item that works beautifully. I did not want to return this EDF. However it is not Coast Guard approved so it is useless. I think it’s far better than the one I have now that is approved. Without CG approval it cannot be used as a substitute for pyrotechnic flares, the reason for getting it in the first place.

This device is easy to use and the instructions are easy to understand. It should be fairly easy to attach this to a life vest, although it was not designed as an attachment to a vest. I purchased 3 of these.

Operationally, it is unbelievably Great. Unfortunately, in spite of claims made in a boating publication that led me to the product in the first place, it IS NOT USCG APPROVED, and as such means I will still have carry flares (*&^%$#@) The whole purpose of the purchase was to avoid that. No idea if I can get my money back at this point.
