As a Gen X’er, I have lots of cassette tapes that I couldn’t ever get on CD. I’ve used a few different things over the years to convert them. I still have a shoebox full and this looked promising. While it works, some of the cons outweigh the pros.Pros:- It is portable. Smaller than the mid-size boom boxes many of us had.- Plays tapes and has a built in radio.- Uses battery or can be plugged in.- Does work to record cassettes to MP3’s.Cons:- It doesn’t stop automatically when you rewind or fast forward. Since a lot of my tapes are 20-30+ years old, they are a bit ore fragile. Easier for the tape to come off the spool. This happened to me so now I know to stop it as soon as it’s done.- Buttons don’t all stay depressed. Have to basically babysit this if you are recording to an SD card. Not really a con but the speakers are not loud. If you are using this to play music, you have to be pretty close to it. For the size, I shouldn’t have expected it to be that much louder I guess.I think the idea is great and it does work - sort of. But I’d love to see them work on some of the issues and come out with a version 2.0. A lot of us really would like an easy way to convert our old music collection

This Retekess TR-641 cassette player/recorder and AM/FM radio also plays content from USB flash drives and micro-SD cards, so it's very versatile. The radio is surprisingly good as far as grabbing stations and locking onto them. It even gets weaker stations. Unlike some other reviewers, I've had good luck with the cassette player and recorder, I mean it records and plays without incident as it should. For me, the biggest negative is the sound of the speaker. Considering there are smaller radios with small speakers that sound surprisingly very good, that this unit sounds so tinny is disappointing. However, I think this Retekess TR-641 brings good value for the amount of ways you can get content into and out of it.

I liked the look and size of this radio. I wanted the tape player, recorder and radio features. The fact that I could listen to my smart phone through the radios speakers was a nice plus. I have a couple of cassettes that I wanted to be able to play again. I didn't need a recorder but I new it could be handy. I listen to the news, podcast, classes and lectures on my phone. Having access to speakers that can be heard clearly as I walk around the house was next level. I can leave my phone on the desk and the radio in the kitchen and I can hear the speakers as I walk around doing whatever I need to do. The sound comes through loud and clear and the volume can be adjusted using my phone's volume control. Recording is smooth and playback is excellent. Using the knob to tune the radio is slow going but can pick up most stations clearly once adjusted. I don't believe it will pick up all stations well but it picks up enough. I connect my smartphone to the radio using Bluetooth nice! Now for the not so great part, the instructions are not bad for some features but could definitely be better for others. I had to review some of the information several times and finally resort to Google and the AI. There are at least 3 features that might be nice to have but currently are beyond my comprehension. I won't discuss those features since I don't really understand them. So, good luck with that. While I did waste a lot of time trying to figure out the features I did not understand, I did get the features I wanted. I'm happy.

I got this for the retro cassette tape recording function but found myself enjoying the local radio stations as well as using the Bluetooth function. I really like it.

I picked this up to copy a box of tapes my parent have. After trying some of them out, they found that many had started to go bad. I've had several different do-dads before to dub tapes to computers, but they were always a pain in the neck to setup and operate. This is perfect for simply getting the data off tape to USG/SD. The tape set is nice with a slow open door and full button array. The Bluetooth works well and its overall a nice sounding radio. The FM receiver is one of the cleanest I've owned in a long time. The best part is the simplicity. Just load an SD card, press record on the front, and press play on the player. It doesn't speed dub so you'll have to wait out the tape, but the quality is good and it's very simple to operate. I've even copied some of my old C64 games to SD so they can be archived. The same works in reverse if you're looking to record MP3s to tape. Highly Recommended for anyone and everyone!

This is a decent, low end portable radio and USB/SD card player. It works fine for these, with a couple annoyances:1. All audio comes out mono, even from the headset.2. The navigation through the filesystems is a bit cumbersome and I cannot predict the order it uses,. It's not as simple as alphabetic by directory or anything more rational than that. I recommend treating this as shuffle mode, so keep songs grouped on specific devices by mood/playlist.The BIG annoyance is that the cassette player's play button won't stay pressed down. If they made that the FF, I wouldn't mind, of course. That would be fine for the rewind, as well, No, those stay down quite easily.I dunno. The longest it stayed down was about 6 seconds.I wanted to love this and review it warmly, but if you are looking for a tape player, this barely functions. It only gets 2 stars because it works just fine at everything else. As a tape player it's worth 0-1 star. Excluding that, it's more like a 3.

LIKES:- Build quality is good.- It pulls in all the local AM / FM stations.Dislikes:- It's much too big. Measurements are 9" x 4" x 2".- Volume is too low. Its 2" speaker sounds tinny.- It doesnt auto-stop when it rewinds to the end.
