Number 1 missing the rubber seal, #2 there are alignment pins at the latches, that do not align, leaving an open gap, that either one or the other latch will not close. I did an exchange for a new case. if the replacement is no good it will be returned as well. I will update on case #2.

I was looking for a lightweight scope case primarily for travel to and from the range. I don’t fly with my scope, so didn’t want a heavy, expensive case. I am very pleased with this case. It is hard but lightweight plastic and comes with 3 layers of foam protection. It has one layer on the top, one on the bottom and a middle layer that is pre-cut, small cubes of pullout foam that can be easily customized by just removing the areas of the foam where your scope will fit. It really is a great deal, and i will be purchasing another one for a second scope.

This is definitely a get what you pay for situation. The profit margins on hard cases must be huge, because the whole market is overpriced in general Alright so this case, it looks good, it attempts to have all the features one would want except the material quality is low. They cut corners. Its got a gasket, but it doesnt snug between the 2 clamshell halves well enough to be considered a seal. The hinges are just metal pins pressed throu some thin plastic outcroppings 14 per hinge, so as one could imagine, using 28 small hinge b teeth means each is not meant to bear much strain.

There is NOT a gasket. The box itself seems plenty sturdy but the latches do not have much tactile feedback when locking them. The hinges seem fine to me. Would pay double or triple for a nicer one if any were available.
