The sextant feels nice. However I wish there would have been an instruction booklet of some sort included. Also one of the pieces of wood in the corner (bottom right) was not attached. I had to glue it.

I probably should have researched how to use this better before I took off on my trans-Atlantic trip in a row boat, but unfortunately I did not. I got caught up in a southerly current and ended on a deserted island off the coast of Madagascar for 8 years and was only recently found because I used the wooden box this contraption came in to send a rescue note (yes, I probably should have brought a bottle too).

Wooden box nice quality and detail. Sextant large enough to actually use / great conversation piece. Rated 4 due to poor quality of “velvet” interior of box. An ugly seam went down the middle of the box base.

I was disappointed because I bought this for a gift and when I received it the bottom of the box has a crack all the way across it. It's disappointing for the box to be cracked and it wasn't a cheap gift.

Very well made . I read several reviews that indicated that several other products had poorly made wooden boxes, this one did not the box was very well made . The Sextant had an antique look and was very well made . Very happy with the product.
