As a newbie to the flyfishing gloriousness, and although I understand the rationale, my only gripe is that the packaging is proprietary and do not lock onto similar, alternately branded products. The actual line worked as I would’ve expected, but if you’re a newbie like me, and you want your gear tight, you might want to consider ordering within the same brand family

This is some good stuff, almost invisible, super thin, but stronger than expected. Had a few sizeable catfish nab my flies. Without my net I had to pull them up kicking and screaming about 3 feet over the bulkhead. Totally expected to snap each time, but alas the tippet was too strong.Almost forgot the best part. It has one of those elastic band with the hole thats the best thing ever for dispensing tippet. Plus you can reuse it for your other lines when it runs out!

I normally don't have any issues with Rio products, I have their spey line and WF fly lines without issues. Trusting the brand and getting into ESN, I thought that buying a built leader over building my own would be better in terms of reliability. Nope! First time out! Leader snapped where the white mono and indicator line meets, nice clean break right above the blood knot. I managed to continue fishing with a diy ESN leader made with cheap Stren mono. I'd recommend people to look into ESN mono rig diys before buying this expensive weak leader.

Shipped quickly. Minimal but secure packaging. It’s nice to see smart packing! Haven’t fished with the ripper yet, but have used Rio lime in the past and have always been happy with it.
