There is nothing special about these swim fins other than they are not hard plastic and have SOME GIVE TO THEM. More rubber material which is nice, I THINK I GOT A USED PAIR BBUT I WASHEDTHEM AND LET MY GRANDSON USE THEM IN THE LAKE.

I ordered my RIP fins just hours after the heel strap on my Vipers parted on one of the best bodysurfing days we'd had in weeks. Vipers never fit well, in my opinion, and are so rigid that I have years of scars on my feet and ankles that will never go away. And, over the years, I've been forced to spend SO much money on bootie and/or padded heel strap combinations, just to be able to wear the Vipers without causing gaping wounds. For that day, at least, I had a set of DaFins, in reserve. Although DaFins claim to be designed and endorsed by Hawaiian lifeguards (not that I care), it was the same thing. Too wide. Too clumsy. And way too stiff! And, like Vipers, you're just paying for a brand name. Anyway, after the loss of the Vipers, and having to resign to the fact I'd have to rely on the DaFins, I got on Amazon to order a new backup. I immediately saw the RIP fins. Compact. Symmetrical blade. Basic black. Within my budget. And I could have them in a matter of days, even here on OBX. Done deal. Ordered, and arrived a few days later, as promised. But instead of keeping them in reserve, I got out in the water the same day, just to give them a try. I could not believe my good fortune! Supple! Flexible! Powerful! And no more annoying booties and padded heel straps! Suffice to say, the Vipers went into the trash. The DaFins went back into storage. And now I have two pair of RIP fins. It's been a great summer!
