The Roland Fantom 7 is not the same as the Roland Fantom 07

Super glad I got this Roland 07, almost got the 08 but the keybed was so stiff (a lot slower than my M-Audio Hammer-88) that I opted for the Synth-Action of the Fantom 07 instead. I recommend getting great speakers. I got the PreSonus Eris E7 XT speakers and they've been very likable but I'm still pondering the purchase. I thought I could just go direct from the 07 to the powered speakers, which I did for little while, but the sound needed a small amount of EQ (reduced mids, etc), So, I added a Mackie Mix8 which is just enough mixer for me and has a MID knob on each channel. The 07 just needed a slight tweaking, plus it's easy to add my vocal now. The 07 does have EQ, but that's more about developing sounds. The 07 is very feature packed, right out of the gate it sounds amazing!

Great all around setup sounds are good but seems to be having polyphony issues after about four layers

I've owned serveral rolands over the years. I do have an FA 08. This machine is the right evolution of that technology and has all the features anyone performing and producing music would like. I love the concept of mixing the sounds and now having finally faders to control levels among them that opens all posibilities for performances. On the sequencing side, it is the easiest sequencer to use, better than daws I would say with a simple workflow that starts from sound creation to pattern creation to song creation in a very easy way. The feature of having the step sequencer similar to a drum machine is also a great thing. At last what i love the most of this keyboard is the hability to sample and create patches from any source. The only thing I would improve is the amount of sample memory, it has a very low amount and you have to be deleting sounds to add more. If they improve that this has no competition in Yamaha or Korg.

I use this for home and church. I have a Yamaha MODX 7 and it sounds good but this new baby been of mine the Roland Fanton 0, 76 keys, 16 pounds is a beast; the only thing it doesn't have an is after touch but with 256 polyphony who's complaining. The sounds of are clean and even though I've only had it for a day I love it, especially the drawbar organ and if day so myself it's rather easier to use and manipulate than my Yamaha and you'll be very busy with 3500 sounds on this baby. Trust me you can't go wrong with this purchase.
