These flap discs fit my Porter Cable angle grinder perfectly and seem somewhat comparable to similar discs from the big box stores. Their high density combined with the 40 grit make these nicely aggressive, helping to quickly remove paint and rust from metal surfaces. The fiberglass backing seems very sturdy, and flexes very little.I don’t do a lot of metal work, but I do have a 135-year-old wrought iron fence that must be cleaned and painted every 10 years or so. These flap discs will speed that process, definitely a lifesaver with 280 feet of fence! At almost $1.70 per disc, these are not the cheapest discs you will find, but it’s still a decent price for very functional discs.

I paint houses for a living and used to use a backing pad with flat sanding discs on my grinder to remove peeling or alligatored paint. These worked well but they tended to clog up fairly quickly and it was also very easy to damage the substrate if you didn't keep the pad moving. Especially when they were first put on. These seem to be much more "forgiving" than the flat sandpaper and also last a lot longer. You also don't need to buy and often replace a special backing pad. It had been years since I used this type of sanding disc and now I wonder why I ever switched to that other type, These are a very high quality version of this type of product and are quite economical compared to those I could buy locally from a brick and mortar retailer.

I love flap discs for cleaning up weld joints. 40 grit discs are perfect for the job, and these were no exception to the rule. I found the price to be great and performance to be on par with other flap discs I have used. You can even use these for initial cleanup of metal that has been sitting outside for a while (that nasty surface rust). 5 stars.

I use a lot of flapper wheels for all types of welding, metal fab and cleaning up old steel in prep for fabrication. I have used dozens of brands and some hold up better than others, these stayed together till it was work down to the nubs without coming apart.The latest project was a new lid for a welding table and I wanted a nice bevel on the edge of the table, these cut the bevel in two passes and really no impact to the wheel itself. I also did a back grind on the cross over beams and was able to get a polished smooth cross over so the top lays perfectly flat.I would recommend buying a set and trying them out, they are priced very competitively and they hold together to last till there is nothing left to burn up.

40 grit, pretty aggressive cut for steel working flap disks, so be mindful as you use these. Build seems similar to other off-brand ones I have used, as the name brand ones felt heavier in the hand. Likely means longevity may be an issue, but I'll have to give them some time to know that.
