Sounds great. Fast shipping. No hole was cut for sensor though. Easy fix.

When reading the bad reviews for this product, I thought... just how bad can this really be?I am here to attest and confirm that it REALLY IS THAT BAD!! I don't know if this is true for all Jeep TJs, but this kit DEFINITELY wasn't designed for a 98 TJ with 4cyl and AC. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hardware is somewhat of a hodge podge mix, with fancy hose clamps that WILL NOT WORK, a funky rubber boot that seals (or doesn't seal) the air tube to the throttle body, and instructions/assembly procedures that conjure up bad memories from previous experience with a Swedish furniture company. If your Jeep doesn't have AC, this installation would probably go a lot smoother, as most of my issues were related to the air tube and panel that isolates the filter, pressing up against the AC lines (see photos), with no simple way to make everything fit right and not rub. To complicate things, my Jeep had a 2" throttle body spacer that was previously installed, so I had to use a chopsaw to remove 2" from the air tube, so the hood would even close. After investing 3 hours, part of that contemplating whether I should just box up the whole mess and return it, a trip to the hardware store to look at Fernco adapter couplings (that wouldn't work), and a whole lot of trial and error getting everything to at least somewhat fit... the kit is installed, but by no means in a finished condition. As you can see from the photos, I have to correct the issues where contact is made with the AC lines, buy a longer hose to connect the PCV valve that's pinched, and relieve the tension where the air tube attaches to the throttle body. Performance-wise, I can feel maybe just a little bit of added top end, but otherwise MEH! Noise-wise, I don't much care for the air-sucking sound and slight whistle this 4cyl makes now on hard acceleration (which is pretty much all the time). It sounds nothing like the deep throaty sounds that cold air kits produced on my V8 Mustangs. There's a very good possibility that I'm just going to scrap this whole mess and switch back to the stock airbox setup. To those who ignore the bad reviews, like I did, and venture on with this project... I wish you the best of luck!

Many complain the rubber fitting doesn’t fit between throttle body and intake tube …well it does, it’s tight the way it should be.See picture. The two hose clamps shipped with the kit? You will only use one on the intake tube. The one on the TB you need to remove and reuse the one off your old intake tube. The one shipped it too big. Also the angle bracket that is suppose to mount on the fan shroud wasn’t even close to fitting. Maybe 1997 TJ’s are different than later years I had to grab two fender washers and mount using the open hole above the suggested mount point on the right hand rad support.Nice sound overall I’m satisfied with my purchase.

Definitely increased air flow over stock system. Sounds pretty good, as well. Nice little whistle in the 2-2500rpm range. Paired with a throttle body spacer as well and there is a much better throttle response. Good set up for the money.

First off I bought this to replace a cold air intake for a 2003 TJ that didn't seal well and was put on from the previous owner who discarded the original air intake (wish I still had that). Directions and pictures are poor and I had to resort to searching for a video to double check I was installing it correctly. It doesn't fit cleanly, has a bit of a bend off the throttle body and the rubber gasket does absolutely nothing to seal agains the hood or around half the bottom. I figure the rubber gasket just protects metal on metal rubbing. When started the air being sucked through the filter is surprisingly loud, louder than any other filter I've had on a car. The closest I can describe is it sounds like a shop vac. Makes me worry that the filter medium is too thin. Thinking of changing out the filter due to this issue. Overall I'm very unhappy with the kit but I guess that's why it's cheaper than many others.

Seemed like a box of thrown together parts. Main in components “fit” made it work. Does what it's supposed too. Satisfied with better performance.

Plenty listed issues/troubles in other reviews. I had to address nearly all of these myself, so i will list how i fixed things and have pictures to show as well.1. Rubber coupler hard to slide on - Yes! However, simple solution is to run it under hot water for about 30 seconds till it gets pliable and it will slide right on.2. Intake/throttle body angles are extreme - Yes! Solution: line up coupler on Throttle Body and mark the angle- i used a sharpie, then use a razor knife to cut an angle into the coupler and remove unneeded material to fit the angle better. Do this once its on the pipe.3. The supplied hose clamps will not tighten down enough for the connection at the throttle body - simple fix with an aftermarket hose clamp.Besides those small issues....this install took me less than 30 minutes- i already had old air box and battery out.Hope this review helps future buyers.

These are easy to install and look like they're specific to the vehicle. Have one (different model) on my Gladiator and bought one to give a little angry to a classic TJ in the driveway. I didn't install on the TJ ultimately but for good reason. The most you'll notice it is on rev under load, like when you speed up to pass someone For that reason, and that reason only, I thought the TJ may be a bad idea. My youngest just started driving, the TJ is her go to vehicle and I didn't want her to have a reason to jump on the throttle. If you're an adult and just want that angry rumble off the line, go for it. You won't go wrong with this one.
