This is a very high quality product and very sturdy. Packaging is excellent, there are some instructions for assembly but assembly is pretty self explanatory. The steel plate appears to be a sand blast finish with some kind of hot dip galv coating? Not 100% sure on this but appears to be well done and no burrs or any defects. The aluminum handles and other parts are anodized. Again, an overall decent product. My only complaint is that the base plate is made of steel. My router table is phenolic and the lift is anodized aluminum. I am seeing some light rub marks from where it is making contact after about 50 passes on the table. This might just be me being finicky as both anodized aluminum and Phenolic should hold up to the constant contact.Another issue I have with a steel base as opposed to aluminum or some other composite material is in the case where the plate accidently comes into contact with a router bit. Granted, this should never happen provided you are not doing anything dumb but accidents happen. A steel plate would be much more likely to shatter a carbide router bit.I have purchased a thin sheet of HDPE that I will attach to the bottom of this product to prevent any more marring or marking of the contact surface.
