It looks pretty cool. My only gripe is the elastic strings on the side. I get why they used it but it was more of a nuisance.

Roomy but not super baggy. Long length as well. Nice medium weight material. Authentic looking pirate pants!!

Nice Ren faire pants. Fabric seems durable and comfortable. I recommend replacing the elastic stitching on the side with some deerskin lace to give a little of that handmade vibe.

I purchased these pants for a Ren Faire costume, and I was pleased at the fit and comfort. The fabric is light and breathable, which was perfect for the very warm day. The elastic band that laces down the side is not particularly authentic to the period I was going for, but it worked.

Wanted a more pirate like color and appearance. I put one scoop of oxy clean and a half cup of bleach in a 3 gallon bucket with 2.5 gallons of hot water. Soaked the brown colored pants for about a hour or so and they are now a more caribbean golden ochre color. Replaced the strings with white cord also. Going to hang them in the sun for a few weeks to further fade them.

So our house is full of doublets and petticoats, capes and hoops, corsets and swords.These pants are a great, lightweight multi-tasking costume piece. The sales page calls them “ Mens Pirate Shorts Renaissance Medieval Retro Banded Viking Navigator Halloween Costume Pants”. Can one pair of pants really be all those things? Pants and shorts? Renaissance and medieval? Pirate and Viking?These are what my husband used to call “baggy pants” when he worked the Ren Fest circuit. They have a vintage feel without being too tightly wedded to any one period. These pants have a wide elastic waistband with a drawstring and wide bands at the bottom of each leg. There are metal grommets running up the side of each leg, they are laced together with sturdy elastic strings. Not sure why they are elastic.The sales page says these are made from a mix of 70% cotton/30% linen. I’m not a fabric expert, but I think there may be some man made fabric in the mix. These do not feel like linen, which is made from flax. I do think there’s cotton in the mix, my son says the fabric is light and breathes, which would suggest cotton. But the hand feel is off, it’s slicker than cotton or a cotton/linen blend. My best guess is maybe cotton and some polyester, but that is just a guess.These have two roomy front pockets, good for cell phone, keys, wallet, etc.My son is not quite 6’ tall, he weighs almost 200 pounds. He’s built big, not heavy, broad shoulders and sturdy Scots legs, he looks great in a kilt. Usually he likes his clothes a bit roomy for comfort, he sizes up a bit. He usually wears a 44 jacket and 36” waist in pants.The size chart for these pants said a size XL had a 36.22” waist, so we ordered him the XL. Often he does order up, but the next size up had a 38.58” waist, he knew that would be too large. The XL fits him the way he likes, a bit of extra room. Keep that in mind when ordering, the XL is about 1 1/4” larger than the measurement in the size chart.The pants are fairly adjustable, the cuffs at the bottom of each leg can be tied tighter or looser. The strings in the grommets running down the sides can also be loosened or tightened. The elastic waist and waistband are likewise adjustable.We ordered these in black, the dye is dark and rich and the color is true, no streaks or runny spots. These pants can be used for all kinds of costumes, pirates and Vikings, knights and courtiers. They have that sort of Ye Olde Mensweare Pant feel, depending how you style them, they could be from many countries and many time periods, even from some imaginary worlds.At the current price ($23.99) this is a nice bargain for a pair of vintage style pants, I’ve seen pants less nice at Ren Fests for two or three times this price. I don’t love the elastic ties but otherwise these are nicely made and styled, the contraction is sturdy and the fabric breathes well in the summer heat.My son is very pleased with these, he has already come up with plenty of ideas how to wear these. Really, the only limits are those of your own imagination. You can wear these for a pirate or a Viking, a hobbit or a dwarf, a knight or a courtier, the Merry Men or the Lost Boys… sturdy and strong, great for costumes and cosplay.

These pants are great for a pirate costume. The fabric is thin and very lightweight so it's perfect for summer. It is true to size and comfortable.

This was such a weird fabric, I didn't want to touch it. The lacing on the side is just elastic string, not very Piratey. Everything feels super synthetic and not on theme.
