I was able to repair 2 pleated window shades in my Jayco 5th wheel camper using this product. One of my shades could use the 1.5mm string that comes with the package, but I had to buy 2.0mm string for the other, wider, shade. The string threader that comes with this package worked great for both sizes of thread. After watching some videos on how to replace the string in a pleated shade, I was able to complete this project saving hundreds of dollars it would have cost to have the repairs done by a mobile RV maintenance company or disrupting my camping to bring the 5th wheel in for onsite restringing. I didn't need to use the tensioners, but it was nice to have them just in case.

Overall a great kit. The pictures mostly show how to restring the shade. Lots of extra string and clips. Unfortunately, without the instructions I had to search for the way to secure the strings at the bottom. Otherwise it would have been a 5 star. Oh and - yes the cord is slightly thinner but I believe it will work just as well, besides I have enough cord to redo this shade 5-6 times!

Fairly new to Rv ownership ( we’ve had it for about five years like many, but hardly ever used it) rather than purchasing new blinds (which are like new) since a couple had frayed cords we tried these, so simple and saved us a couple of hundred dollars. Would recommend to anyone who thinks it’s hard to do, it is not.

Let’s faces it your going to need this. Campers are fun but they are built cheap. This kit works perfect I only used the spring as my springs were still okay. Good kit to keep in the camper for future use.

I can't objectively review how well these will work because I bought the kit hoping I'll never use it! However, it looks good, and includes everything one should need to repair a malfunctioning accordian-style blinds in most common travel trailers. I'll update the review if I'm ever unlucky enough to actually need it.

Got this to keep handy in my RV. I have not had a need to repair a window shade yet, but I probably will need to someday. So, this goes into my RV in the "spare parts" drawer until needed. Looks like it has everything I would need. Most RVs have two or four strings in their shades. The kit comes with five strings so you could even break one and still have enough for repairs. My RV uses two strings so there are enough parts in the kit to do two shades.
