This powerful hifi mini earphone dac amp does a very good job with a fun lighting aura that blends well with function. A good addition to the enthusiast who likes music delivered at its finest.

I purchased this DAC dongle mainly from being curious - I know Hidizs has some decent products and the lights intrigued me (for some reason?) but this is a seriously decent audio device. I have an HE400SE with a good 2.5 balanced cable, so I ordered an XO not really expecting much. I had previously read a review where XO was compared favorably to S9 Pro, which provided further intrigue. Turns out, the lights are worth a spin once/twice for grins, but the XO puts out well-balanced sound with a decent kick/punch and honestly surprised me. The competition is tough and 100 retail is a bit much - I did pick this up on a lightning deal at a discount, but it certainly has power to drive the HiFiman to a very pleasing volume level. The spec on the balanced out is 195mW and it hits that mark. If it had volume adjustment on the device in place of the lights, it would definitely compete with comparable-sized dongles (UP4,FC4, Dawn Pro). Did not get very warm, nor did it drain excessive battery when connected to Lenovo M8. Full metal body, and this doesn't feel cheap. Glad I gave it a shot, more than what I expected & groovy lights thrown in the package. The XO works well with the HiBy Music app & Tidal. I ran a 3.5 cable from the SE out into a Fosi SK-01 pre-amped to my AVR and it sounded very good, with nice dynamics & noticeable punch.

Let me start with the most common review theme-- that I experienced myself.I'm testing it on my Beyerdynamic DT 177X Go.On windows PC, when I first plugged this, the device has a default volume of 100%... doesn't sound so bad.I had to mute then start at zero... and I found:my listening volume with this XO dongle is only at 8 (max)! Are you kidding me??On my mobile, my habit of keeping my audio at the lowest volume saved me.With loudness out of the way, how do they sound? They make my headphones come alive. The bass is a lot easier to hear compared to the usual $16 or lower priced dongles for everyday use. I love how they sound and since I'm only using these on youtube premium (and youtube music premium), the XO dongle is able to give me the energy and excitement and nuances of quieter sections of music I listen to.They are warm to touch though-- but in my 10-30min listening sessions, they do remain only warm.I suspect playing higher audio quality files will cause these to go warmer-- if you want to use this and keep it in your pocket, you will feel the warmth.But for around ~50USD (bought them on sale) they are fantastic... maybe too loud but fantastic all the way.

Great sound. Volume control is impossibly horrible. Just absolutely twitchy and almost blew out my eardrums. Dangerous device. Fix the software folks, because it’s unusable like this.
