Purchased this to specifically use with my microphone (uses audio jack). The headphones had low volume when used with this adapter, and the Microphone would not work at all.Returning the product for refund as it did not meet my needs.

I got this to replace the standard headphone output from my desktop computer. The standard output had a lot of distracting noise and static between music cuts or whenever there were moments of quiet in the content. This does just what I wanted. No noise. I don't know about the mic input as I don't use that.

This thing is small yet quite functional with decent sound quality. I bought it for times when I need an extra sound card. This tiny little gem does the job. And oh, how do they get those external controls in such a small package?

I bought this for my work computer because the sound on it stopped working completely. I thought I'll buy this and see if it works. It works great. It's small enough to carry with me to school and to work and home. I keep it in my backpack with my laptop and then to work after school. I earbuds have good sound to begin with that came with my GS7 phone and I feel like this sound card makes the sound better. I'm going to use this all the time now even on my laptop which has a perfectly working sound card. I plugged it into my work computer and my laptop and the computer automatically downloads the drivers it needs to work and it works great. I like the volume buttons on the device itself. Great little product with a very affordable price. Would recommend to anyone looking for an external sound card on a budget. It does have an input for a mic as well, but I bought it to listen to music.

The headphone jack on my old Lenovo laptop gave out years ago, rather than tear into it and risk blowing the entire repair, I tried a Logitech external card- but it was a dongle, and I found it difficult to use and has some other issues, so I have always wanted to try a different plug-in.The Sabrent came along and took over with some much appreciated features. The control buttons are as simple as it gets, mic mute, audio mute and vol up/down. I haven’t yet played with the mic input, and at this time do not plan to ever use it that way, but a test will follow as soon as I can find a decent microphone. I am led to believe it is mono only, so since all I use my input for is ripping recordings, it’s unlikely to find service at any time.As you can see in product photos of the black model, the buttons are large enough and easy to hit, but pretty hard to discern in low light. I may resort to a dot of whiteout. The response is smooth and the mute goes off and on with a fade, a very nice way of doing it (unless you’re an audio engineer, and I doubt you’d be using this for work anyway) There are two tiny LED’s in the case, a blue that goes solid when plugged in, flashing when active. A white light shows mic on/off.What I find most useful is how it activates- with the Logitech, a complete reboot was necessary to switch back to the onboard card, with the Sabrent you need only exit the audio app and then restart, you would expect that to be the easiest way by default. I did notice when listening to streaming audio it froze the stream when removed, but that’s easy enough to live with.Using a pair of Sennheiser HD-598’s I figured I could give a fair test, and was pleasantly surprised. For a portable sound card costing under $10.00, it was virtually indistinguishable from my dated but formerly high-end sound card on my desktop. I used the magnificent Ry Cooder’s “Chavez Ravine” CD as I know it well, and was pleased to learn apart from perhaps a slightly reduced output, the sound was by not noticeably inferior. (Disclosure: I am noticing the slight but inevitable hearing changes of middle age, so YMMV). I also rediscovered how truly awful the MP3 format treats recordings, the loss of so much musical information is great for storage and accessibility, but you should be reminded periodically of what you’re missing before true high fidelity vanishes forever. For added niceness a 32” USB extension cable is included, a very handy way to fit the device into crowded spots. Or just have for other devices, most people I know don’t even own one. No instructions are included, I doubt there would be much to say about it that you wouldn't understand after 10 minutes of use. It’s hard to believe they have the price so low, and I expect it to be damaged, worn out or just misplaced at some point its only obvious one should consider picking up a spare.

I purchased this to regain audio functionality out of my laptop, in which the onboard sound had bit the dust. Produces good sound, and the buttons on the adapter work flawlessly without any configuring. (laptop is currently running Debian Jessie)Pros: Good build quality, instant install, no extra drivers required for linux. Worked right out of the box.Cons: None whatsoever

The thing the specs DOESN'T tell you is that the input is MONO. WTF? I had to by another adapter. This one sucks.

Unexpectedly excellent and inexpensive solution to an annoying intermittent problem with a sound card. A vexing problem that was hard to localize seems to be perfectly solved with this inexpensive device. Completely plug and play and now consistent sound available in a pc.
