This is my second Sanwa Trackball and it works perfectly. The previous model was smaller all around than the new one, had "Sanwa" printed on the heel and had two molded finger slots. It lasted me four years and one month until it stopped being responsive. The new one is larger, has a larger ball, has no finger slots and has "Luna" printed on the heel. They both worked perfectly right out of the box and I'm happy to have found these excellent replacements for my old Logitec.

I bought this item because it looked very similar to a thumb mouse I have bought before. That product was from Porlei and that one was also very comfortable but they discontinued it.Unfortunately this is a battery mouse, but the comfort makes that go away. The base extend an area where most thumb ball mice end. Why? Because they want to keep the profile small (?) for packaging it for travel, I guess. To be honest probably to use less material and save money and claim it as ergonomic.Anyway the extra support even when used on a desk makes this item for me. Especially since I sit in my easy chair with my wireless KB and my wireless mouse.P.S. I don’t know why Porlei stopped making the similar mouse because I really liked it.the ball was tightly held as this product is also instead of the loose ones like in Logitech m570 series. This mouse is also Bluetooth only so you don’t get a transmitter. Rechargeable batteries here I come again, but it’sworth it.Update :I don't know how I missed this but I did. I didn't downgrade this because it didn't have mouse 1 and 2 buttons. There are a lot of games I have played not needing those buttons. So for those games I am using one of my old "ergonomic?" trackball mice. To me they aren't ergonomic because they don't have the palm rest. The Porlie Thumb trackball mouse is my favorite but unfortunately it's not longer being made.

I have a different, wireless trackball mouse for home use, and it works great. However it doesn't come in a wired version which required in my office. The comfort is outstanding with no stress on my hand (I had carpal tunnel release a week ago). However, the trackball is terrible. The mouse would move independent from the direction I was rolling the ball, and has a faint ratchetting feel to it. Nothing I did would make it work correctly. If I pushed very hard with my thumb on the ball I could get it to move accurately, otherwise to get precisely on a link, window close button or to click on a checkbox or radio button became a tongue-in-cheek trial. I do not recommend this. I thin another reviewer mentioned the ball and rollers being plastic when the rollers should be steal for more precise movement. This is probably true.

I'm an old Logitech Trackman wired trackball guy but they dont make them anymore and as much as I loved that mouse, I'm not paying $300 for one on eBay :PBeing in an environment where I cant use bluetooth, I need a wired trackball. So I tried this one as a replacement for my old Logitech. Biggest thing I noticed is, right out of the box, the trackball sticks and does not roll freely at all. I was about to box it up and ship it back, but while complaining to a co-worker about it (spinning it the entire time to show him how bad it rolled) I noticed it started to spin smoother and smoother. Now it rolls like butter.Bottom line - spin that mofo back and forth like the ball on the old Missile Command game for about 30+ seconds and you'll be good to go ;DOnce I got the ball issues addressed, only complaint I have is the buttons lay a little flat. It's a very minor thing but I did like the continuous curve of the Logitech. But I can live with that.

I love SANWA because they represent the only alternative for large-handed trackball consumers since MSFT and Logitech mothballed their earliest marble designs. I buy nearly every SANWA line I see at least once. This time I bought two, just on a lark, and I've got some models that say "LUNA" on the bottom. For starters, I'm glad to see SANWA went for large-handed consumers again. This is bigger than the last several SANWA models I've purchased; the injection mold is fantastic. The buttons are gentle motion, and it would almost be perfect, were it not for...... the laser tracking assembly inside the ball unit. They literally have a pocket of unused air in there that catches *everything*, so I have to pop the ball and clean it once or twice a day. Mind you I'm not that dirty and I didn't think I shed that much hair, but this is very annoying considering that my cleaning cycles for the last several SANWA units were monthly, and even then they still tracked beautifully before I began cleaning them.Someone needs to do some strong use case evaluation of that assembly holding the ball because whoever decided a pocket compartment in there was a good idea, well, was obviously very wrong.I'd like to see the same mold used with a better assembly. If they ever advertise that I'll likely buy fourty of them.
