I measured the channel as being just a tiny fraction bigger than 4mm but I have experience with rope that is too big so I figured it was worth a try. Anyway the the stuff is bigger than stated and perfect for my stove. We'll have to wait and see how it holds up. In my experience and situation rope lasts about 5 years before changing it gets on the do list.

Description says .4 inches, when actually this stuff id more like .6 inches. In other words its supoosed to be slightly smaller than 1/2", but is actually little over 1/2". I do like the graphite infused part, wood stove door seals much better now, and uses less wood over night.

This was bought to replace my stove seal rope that fallen apart and needed replacing. I like the length amount as the store bought was way to short and more expensive. I only has the buy the fireplace gasket glue but other then cleaning the door channels it went on without problem and was the right size to seal the opening. Now it sealed and properly no more smoke or air leaks into the Fireplace stove.

The rope seemed nice and to size. I was worried about graphite residue, but handling with bare-hands I hardly had anything on them after, if at all. It was sturdy but not firm. Easy to fit to form. There is no adhesive on it tho so the adhesive rating is confusing. Was easy to shape and work with. Only returned because I got wrong size. >.Shipping was also prompt.
