My wife was frustrated with a door leading to my garage not getting shut completely or in a timely manner. Only had to put one hinge in the middle of the door for us to get the perfect result. Bonus: two extra hinges to use elsewhere!

I have a door that tends to slowly swing completely open by itself and I wanted to change it so it swings closed by itself (but not completely closed). This product was perfect for that.To note, I have a cat and I want her to be able to freely enter and exit my room so I didn’t want the door to close all the way. The good thing is that you can adjust how much you want this hinge to close and the door if I wanted to, I think I would be able to adjust it so that it closes completely on its own. I took measurements of my hinges beforehand and it fit perfectly.This product seems like a sturdy build quality with the exception of a little pin that it gives you (the notch where you choose to place the pin is what controls the strength of the spring). I honestly wish that there was a way that the pin could “click“ into place because as of right now, it is simply held there by the pressure of the spring (see photo), but I could imagine it slowly slipping out of place over time (the package comes with two pins perhaps for this reason). Aesthetically speaking, it looks a little more bulky than the other hinges (see photo) but honestly, it’s not very easy to notice unless you’re looking for it. I got the color of mine a sort of brushed silver look so it matches with my current hinges (see photo), however if your hinges are golden then it will probably stand out a little more. My door is held by three hinges and I installed this hinge to take the place of the top most one.The instructions are a little unclear (see photo), but with a bit of intuition it’s not hard to install. I’m not a handyman by any means and this took me about 20 minutes.Just as a side safety note, the door will slam faster and harder the stronger you make the spring, especially if you open the door as wide as possible and then let it go. It’s not terribly painful, but just something to keep in mind especially if you have toddlers who might have their fingers in the doorway.Overall, highly recommend it works perfectly for what I need to.

I purchased for garden gate to replace a higher grade product. This one is smaller and lighter... But looks and feels sturdy.
