One end of the pastel was crumbled. Needed ends protected as well. I would have it a 5 star otherwise.

Essential for highlights, as it gives you that 'extra whiteness'.It is very soft and crumbly to use.Sadly the pastel stick was broken when I received it.

Sennelier soft pastels are indeed super soft. This makes them wonderful for coverage. They are pricy but oh so worth it if you do a lot of pastel work. Personally doing winter scenes is my favorite so I use a lot of white. What a difference this chalk has made in my work. I am very happy and will begin to add more colors as I can afford them. The soft pastel really does not crumble as you might think as long as you use it with a gentle touch...which is all you need with this chalk. It fills up the tooth of the paper quickly. Attached are a couple of the snow scenes where I used this chalk. Using this chalk is a lot of fun.

Velvet like texture, beautiful deep blue. You can notice the high quality just touching it, a little to crumble for me, but not big deal, great over Carson Touch paper.
