These corner jigs are well made out of aluminum. I did not realize that they cannot be used with a handheld trim router or regular hand guided router. Placing them on the corner of your board, you need to guide them around your straight router bit mounted to the router of your table. They are small and held in place by your fingers…which are dangerously close to the bit—placing downward pressure on them to keep in place plus moving the board corner you are rounding takes lots of concentration and caution. I will be sticking with the Kreg Corner Rounding system which allows for a clamp and use of a handheld router…safer in my opinion.

The set is nicely anodized and appears to be well machined, until you place it on a work piece. In the attached image, I have placed one of the templates under a section of melamine, the corner of which is square. (I checked against several squares I have, and all were dead-on with this corner.) You will notice that a portion of the template sides protrude past the stops, which creates an uneven transition to the radius. Additionally, the offset was different on each side, and different for each template in the set. The offset varied from a low of 0.01mm to 0.075mm. (Yes, it is tight to both stops in the photo.)I wanted to like the set, but the accuracy of the machining makes it useless for my purposes.

I've tried any number of ways to do corners and could rarely get even two corners to truly match. Discovering these made it so easy. Also glad I paid a little more and got the metal ones.

I don't do a lot of rounded corners on my projects. If needed and like many, I just walked over the the belt sander and sand away. Over time, I have been growing tired at guessing that my rounded corners were "good enough".I have been wanting a set of radius jigs to have in my workshop...just to have...and I didn't want to pay an arm an a leg for them. I have a project that begs to have perfect rounded corners and was looking forward using my first set of radius jigs. I chose these jigs as they were made made out of aluminum and were relatively low in cost. Other than that, I was "rolling the dice".When first opening the package, the product looks and feels well made. Before starting in on my project pieces to rout, I did a simple test fit with the jig (R25) on a perfect 90 degree wood sample. The jig would not set flush to the edge of the board at the 0 degree and 90 degree mark. Oh....I would get a rounded corner....but starting at the 20 degree (roughly) and 70 degree (roughly) mark. This is not what I was expecting and needed for this project. I re-positioned the jig several time hoping for a better result...but no. So I tried all the jigs and corner options...with the same pathetic results. I pulled out the trusty caliper and measured the squaring flanges and the offset for a flush finish. I'm not a metric guy (per se')...but it was off by 1 mm (or so) at each edge.....hence the reason why you cannot get a flush start and finish point. How can something that is so simple with easy tolerances...be so wrong? Needless to say, i am returning the set of jigs and moving on to a more expensive and trusted set.... and my project gets delayed for another couple of days. I urge anyone looking at these to move on too.
