My mistake, I'll own it. In a rush to finish the recon of my transom plate, bell housing and outdrive, and against my better judgement, I installed this bellows on my transom plate and lower shift cable. This bellows is thin, flimsy and nowhere near as thick and sturdy as the other OEM parts I installed. After several fitful days of thinking about the high speed pressures exerted on it and the saltwater environment that would no doubt eventually lead to a puncture, tearing or splitting of that bellows that would then fill my bilge with water, I ordered the OEM replacement part and removed that aftermarket part. The difference is like night and day! After 6 years in the Coast Guard and having taken this boat to Nassau in the Bahamas and across deep blue water, my wife's safety is paramount and isn't worth the risk of running offshore with inferior equipment. ...Just sayin'.

More durable then it looks . I thought it was to thin and cheesy, but after repositioning 3 time to make sure it had enough flex without tearing after turning the steering wheel. It held up well and took more abuse then it will ever see in the water.

installed in spring of 2019, and in August 2020, Sierra bellow for shift cable has completely failed. Last weekend, had a lot of water in bilge, and found a hole in the shift cable bellow, with severe cracking.Bellows are way too important to rely on saving a few buck when it comes to boat parts.

NO,NO,NO. I won't put this on my boat. its so thin and flimsy. I no doubt made a mistake. there is no weight or thikness to it. its way to much work to put something this thin on it. I did not even open the package. This is not my first rodeo. I'm sorry. brands do matter. The part number must have been the same as Mercruiser or quicksilver. Im sure its my fault for not ordering O.E. but if this thing leaks the boat takes on water. I don't want to tell you that story so I'm gonna send it back unopened.

Good replacement, thinner than OEM, but came with quality clamps. If you rate this on ease of install, even the OEM's are difficult. It does take some finesse. Slide over the compression end fitting, work bellows over backside nut as far as possible, use small screwdriver to work small end over cable sheathing, get remaining bellows over backing nut. Use small screwdriver to open bellows over sheathing and spray some WD-40 or penetrating oil inside of bellows, turn the bellows a bit to spread out lubrication, then gently push small screw driver inbetween and bellows and backing nut, and work bellows over the backing nut. Another method I've used is cutting the tip of a tube of caulk at the large end that will slide over the cable and lube the bellows up, silde it all over in one shot.
