Very nice and convenient to wax chain. Better than my crockpot because I get the temperature just right. One recommendation is to make a version that is slightly bigger. Ebikes have bigger chains and need more room for the chain.

I’ve been thinking about getting a chain, waxing machine or system in this case for quite some time. Finally, I made the investment so glad I did and wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.. it’s so easy to do plenty of videos on YouTube explaining how and I’ve since acquired back up chains to swap them out as needed. I look forward to linking the lifespan of my components and most of all I’m really liking the fact that the chain after waxing stays incredibly clean something I’ve never experienced before..

Don't be intimidated by the chain removal or maintenance. After 15 yrs of cycling, I thought I would give waxing a try. I should have transitioned to wax along time ago. Silca makes this a very painless process, just follow the instructions. I would recommend purchasing the super-secret chain wax coating so you can maintain the chain in between waxings. I ended up waxing 3 bikes and my zwift trainer bike. One of the biggest plusses is that there is no more grease to worry about. I used to always wrap plastic around my drive train when transporting my bike in the car, not any more.

The product arrived fast. It heats the wax up great. And it easily fits my chains in it. Just let the chain come up to temperature, move it around and pull it out. Make it fast and simple, and don't have to worry about overheating the wax.

I bought a new Tarmac last month and decided to wax the chain. Researched the options and chose to try this as I did not have anything for waxing chains. It may seem pricey but it's well worth it as the system is purpose built and easy to use. I highly recommend this to anyone, reduce guessing at temps and mess, this worked flawlessly and I'm happy I purchased it as the investment will go a long way to smooth and fast rides with less chain cleanup after.

Chain waxing is the only way to go if you're serious about keeping your bike running smoothly, and the SILCA Bicycle Chain Wax Melting System makes it so much easier! Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the convenience and quality. The cooling rack and hanging stand are game-changers, keeping things organized and mess-free during the process. The melting system heats up quickly and holds the wax at just the right temperature, so you get a consistent coating every time. It’s a must-have for any cyclist looking to keep their chain clean, efficient, and long-lasting!

I started chain waxing (using Silca Hot Melt) about 2 seasons ago, unfortunately for me, this Silca pot had not yet been introduced to the market so I purchased a generic low-end crock pot for my needs. That pot worked well, however, I was always a bit uncomfortable with the temperature controls as per Silca, the temperature you melt and wax at is important (you could damage the wax).I purchased this Silca pot as an upgrade and am extremely happy with the purchase. Many will balk at the price vs. a generic pot, however, if you are a chain waxer, you understand the the process and the materials are an investment you are making for a far superior process that will be continual dividends in performance and equipment longevity. For me, using this pot and doing things right just makes sense when I look at why I am a chain waxer.

The only issues I’ve had are melt time and the chain handle. It really does take a long while to get to melted wax. Add another 30 minutes at least to your planned time. The first melt with fresh pellets took nearly an hour in a 70 degree F room. Once it’s melted however super simple. As for the chain handle. It lasted two chains before it disconnected on both ends. The wires are simple crimped into ferrules in the handle and not tightly at all. The first side to fail was the non bolt side. The other side came out when unscrewing from the handle and the “bolt” piece is lost to the universe. I’ll likely just use piano wire or a spoke from now on. Great idea, difficult and lacking in execution.
