It was a gift for my son who's a drummer and wanted to protect his handmade custom snare. Turned out to be a bit deeper then I thought it was going to be but my son uses the extra room for his drum stick bag which fits nicely in the case as well.

I wanted a sturdy, secure, padded case for a 14” x 6.5” snare drum. It was a Christmas gift for my son. I thought this was the one, but it was not an exact fit for us. Left about 1.5”-2” space to fill so there wouldn’t be a gap and movement of the drum within the case. Maybe I just ordered the wrong case number. Either way, other than the gap it would be 5 stars. I’m just using a large circular piece of acoustic foam to fill the gap and prevent movement inside the case.

So glad to find this case for my snare, worth the cost for keeping it safe (too much family history and memories attached) from children and long term reliability. I have a few other guitar cases from them over the years and have never been disappointed.

This is a good case. I have a bunch of these SKB drum cases. This one is for a 8 x 14" custom snare drum. It's not a water-proof case because of the holes in the bottom of the case due to the strap locks, it will allow water to get in if kept in a puddle. The case will keep the drum protected from dust and from getting banged up while transporting. It does have padding on the inside not the best but it works just fine if your drum tech's not throwing it around. I've been using these cases for awhile now. They're holding up great and have not fallen apart yet so they seem to be made pretty strong.

Beyond building your own hard shell cases out of plywood and shock foam, these cases offer excellent protection (especially considering how light weight they are). I have purchased these for all of my drums and will continue to do so as I acquire new snares.
