I bought a set of Skyjacker Black Max shocks for my 04 Jeep TJ to upgrade a set of Rancho 5000 shocks that were not valved correctly for a TJ, rode like a buckboard, and were not well painted (the shock body prematurely rusted).I like the ride quality of the new Black Max shocks - it's a big improvement over the Ranchos. It would be nice if these shocks had some adjustment to rebound, but they work well enough and were also fairly easy to install. I should point out that if you have a stock ride height TJ (no lift), the REAR shocks that I received with this set PN (B8518) are incorrrect for a stock height TJ, because B8518 shocks are intended for TJs with AT LEAST a 1-inch lift. The correct rear shock PN for a stock height (zero lift) TJ is B8508.
