Purchased this for binos at the rifle range. Maybe eventually a spotting scope.Very simple to set up and adjust this tripod. The only minor improvement I would suggest is the position of the pan lock screw as it relates to the handle. They interfere with each other a bit.This packs neatly into a Maxpedition water bottle holder which can be attached by Molle to a pack or range bag.The video head has good damping, especially for lightweight binoculars. A handle that also controlled the tilt lock would have been nice, but is not necessary for effective functionality.

Amazing build quality in a small tripod!! I use this for my 20x60x85 spotting scope while bench rest shooting.

Been Jonesing for a small tripod to get some steady, protected low level shots and this delivers. The ball head is so-so, does move too easily after lockdown. Maybe a larger diameter screw and knob would help. But I'm not an engineer, so...Decently compact, will very likely fit into your kit without much loss of space. The leg release latches pull out to get the legs almost perpendicular to the base, everything feels solidly built aside from the ball retaining hardware. Maybe a little pricey, but I haven't really shopped for these so I don't have any experience with price vs. quality.4.2 Stars.

This is a review for the SmallRig Carbon Fiber Mini Desktop Tripod, 15.5'' / 39.5cm Compact Pocket Tabletop Tripod Kit with 360° Ball Head, Built-in QR Plate for Arca, Ball Head Capacity 3kg / 6.6lb for Cameras, DSLRs, Lenses.This is a very nice mini tripod. It features sturdy 1.5mm thick carbon fiber legs, which I verified by disassembling one of them. The legs can be expanded and contracted to adjust the height of the tripod. Additionally, there are metal tabs near the top that further extend the height range. The lowest position is 12cm (4.7 inches), and the highest is 40cm (15.7 inches) with the legs fully extended.On top of the legs is a 360-degree rotating base with a lock-down knob. Above this is a ball swivel with another lock-down knob. Finally, at the top, there is a base with a removable shoe that has a 1/4"-20 threaded attachment point for a camera or other equipment. The base includes a small bubble level, though it is only visible when the shoe is removed. One might expect something this sturdy and durable to be heavy, but the tripod weighs just 470 grams (1.5 lbs).Included with the tripod is a high-quality carrying bag featuring a cord system that allows it to be carried as a backpack. Altogether, it’s an excellent package.The build quality of this tripod is outstanding. The components are well-constructed, and the tripod feels very sturdy. I could find no flaws in its construction aside from one minor issue. As mentioned earlier, I disassembled one of the legs and confirmed that they are indeed 1.5mm thick carbon fiber—quite strong yet lightweight. Unfortunately, the unit I received was missing a bolt on one of the legs (see attached photo), so if you purchase this tripod, be sure to check that all parts are included.The rotating base moves smoothly in the clockwise direction, with just enough resistance for controlled adjustments. However, when turned counterclockwise, unless the base is tightened down securely, it tends to unscrew from the tripod. Just something to be mindful of.My previous experience with tripods has been with much larger ones used for telescopes, so this was my first time using a compact mini tripod for photography. I was pleasantly surprised by how sturdy and versatile it is despite its small size.Would I return this item to Amazon after using it? No way! It exceeds my expectations in every way—weight, flexibility, and build quality. Yes, my product was missing a part, but I believe this is not typical for this product. I will address the issue with the manufacturer, and I am confident it will be resolved. If for some reason this turns into a hassle, I will update my review accordingly. That said, the tripod is fully functional even without the missing bolt, so I can still use it in the meantime.

Pros:With the legs fully extended it’s 3” taller than my next tallest mini tripod.It unexpectedly came with a pretty nice storage bag.The tripod itself is good looking, solid, and made of quality stuff.Cons:I have a lot of tripods and the method of angle adjustment on this one of is one of my least favorite. My favorite is a spring loaded rocker switch. The one on this model is a push/pull lock that requires you to pinch the sides of the adjustment lock and pull it out, move the leg, and push the lock back in. It’s clunky at best. If you don’t need to adjust angles quickly it’s not a big deal.The ballhead is for very light duty only. It’s theoretically rated for 6.6 pounds. I put my 4.8 pound camera and lens combo on for testing and the ballhead immediately sagged. The whole thing would have fallen over if I hadn’t caught it. I tightened down the ballhead as much as possible and I could still move it with very little effort by hand. I wouldn’t trust this ballhead with anything that weighed more than a pound. Honestly, not even that if I had any other ballhead around. Luckily, I have lots of tripod heads and the tripod itself works great with any of them after you put a 1/4” to 3/8” adapter on the mounting screw.Overall, for the price there are better options out there, but this one is particularly tall, which makes it somewhat unique in the mini tripod market.
