I purchased this combo kit to change both the receptacle and power cord end on my Airstream. The kit arrived quickly and the installation instructions were easy to follow.I know of several people who have fried their chords, thank goodness there was no fire or major damage. The Smart Plug is a secure snap into place fit in the receptacle unlike the old twist lock type.My wife and I can now go camping with peace of mind knowing that my electrical connection is safe and secure.

Instructions say: "installs in minutes!" which is technically true if 120++ is what they mean by that!If you're not an electrician familiar with working with heavy gauge wires you are going to struggle to install this properly. Threading the braided wires into the barrels that are basically the exact same size without a stray wire and seating 100% is an amazing frustration! Wires are very stiff except at the ends where they easily fray. You'll get 2 or 3 almost perfect but the last one will drive you crazy! It's a puzzle! A friend to help hold it would make things go much smoother. I'd opt for solder/tin the loose wire ends if I had a soldering iron. Almost gave up and went and bought one! That would streamline the end of the cord installation.Give yourself 2+ hours to do this properly. Read the instructions thoroughly before hand several times as you need to do the steps in order.

We have bought our last smart plug. Bought two over the past 4 yrs. Both of them almost burned our boat down. Fortunately, we were here to save our boat when the Smart Plug caught fire. Don’t buy this product! Pictured are both plugs that burned out.

The original connector had burnt partially due to either a loose connection or the campground power. Either way this was an excellent replacement. Very sturdy solid connections and I don't worry about it being loose anymore. Easy to install, easy to operate. Pricey though.

I've had several twist and lock plugs go bad and the design the instructions complete, the quality, i love everything about these. The twist lock plugs were never as secure for me on my boat as these lock in. I will update after i spend more time with them, but at this point Im convinced they are going to be great.
