This was such a win- a great product! Easy to measure for, install and it looks amazing. I plan to order a couple more!

Not often do you get more than you pay for, but the quality of these blinds suggest a much higher cost. They look fantastic and function perfectly. A bit fussy to set up “just so”, but worth the effort.Start with the sample book for answers to your fabric quality and colour questions. And be sure to nail your measurements.

We ordered one blackout blind in Bouvardia Cream for our master bedroom. It arrived within days and took just minutes to install. I programmed the z-wave motor and set up a SmartThings routine to open and close on sunset/sunrise within another 3 minutes. Alexa found and added the device automatically, so it can be easily controlled by voice without me having to do additional programming. The blind fits perfectly, and we love the white side channels we opted to get. They hold the blind perfectly straight and block any light that might otherwise be seen from the sides, and they themselves disappear visually into the window opening. The bottom of the blind arrived programmed to stop at the precisely perfect spot at the base of the window opening, exactly per our measurements.Easy install and programming, high end look, total blackout, truly smart - I have a feeling we will soon have these in every window of the house.

I am very happy with my blinds. They seem to be a good quality. The instructions given did not fit my set up ( inside window frame), but after contacting customer service, I received the pdf for set up within 24 hours ( probably less than 12 hours).I have two windows that they cover. It took s us 120 minutes to install the first window ( as it was our first time to put up blinds), and 60 minutes for the second. It’s a 2 person job.If I have any criticism, it is about the instruction guides. The instructions, are all right, English is a little peculiar at times, but the graphics are CRAZY small. For technical issues setting up voice command with Alexa, I did internet research as the instruction guide was insufficient.I had a bit of a time figuring out how to set them up with Alexa, but after some research on Reddit, I figured it out. It took me about a couple of weeks to set the blinds perfectly the way I want them, but now I have them set for opening and closing at certain times and voice activated thru Alexa. Also, their speeds are the same ( they weren’t initially and I thought there was something wrong with one), and I have them move together at the same time, as the blinds are beside each other. They can move separately as well..I have also set them to the exact open and close position. I haven’t yet set them for half or quarter position on the window, but I can figure that out when the seasons change and the sun gets stronger.Took a bit of brain power for setting them the way I’d like, but very happy with them.

I did not want powered blinds. If / when the motor fails, a motorized blind will brick and be unusable. Manual blinds with a string or chain can be repaired and may last (a lot) longer. However: when I searched on Amazon for roller blinds, the Smartwings products kept moving to the top of the search results. They had the best price and best reviews. The best manual blind alternatives to the Smartwings motorized blinds were more costly and less popular. And so, I decided to take a chance on Smartwings. The build quality is solid. I know this because I had to disassemble and reassemble the first (of three) blinds that I ordered several times. The blind made grinding and knocking sounds when operating. I contacted Smartwings technical support and they went several rounds with me, suggesting potential fixes and sending links to videos that explained how to adjust blind components. Nothing worked, but technical support was unfailingly fast and friendly whenever I asked for help. Every individual component of the blind worked as expected and tested flawlessly, but when assembled together they made strange noises. Smartwings eventually concluded that the blind just wasn't going to work to spec (haunted, maybe?) and sent me a replacement. Kudos to their technical support staff both for sticking with the extended debugging process, and then sending a replacement when it was appropriate.Things that might not be clear from the product description:[*.] With regards to colour, I found it difficult to trust the product photos for the blinds: they've clearly been Photoshopped. Smartwings sells a package of fabric swatches (5"x8.5") on Amazon. Ordering the swatches first cost $10 and added a few weeks to the process but provided peace-of-mind.[*.] It is possible to adjust the upper and lower limits of the blind. If you have any concerns about how the blind will fit in your window, it's better to order one that is a little too long (vs too short). I needed blinds for three windows, and the windows are not exactly the same size (one is 3/4" taller than the others). I ordered all 3x blinds to fit the tallest window, and then tweaked the lower limit on 2x of the blinds to make them fit the shorter windows. It worked very well, and because they are the same size the blinds are interchangeable.[*.] The price you see on the product page is for the smallest / simplest blind. When you "add to cart", the Amazon website will walk you through a series of questions to lock down exact measurements and requirements. The process is thorough; you won't have to worry about errors / misunderstandings in your order.[*.] If you plan to order multiple blinds, you will need to order at least one remote during the website customization process. There are two models of remote available: one that supports 1-5 blinds, and one that supports 1-15 blinds. It you order five completely different blinds, across five different orders, they can all be made to work with the same remote. All of the factory programming can be reset / reconfigured.[*.] It is apparently possible to use two remotes with the same blinds. I only have one remote, so I can't test this. Also: I don't see a way to order (just) a second remote through Amazon. Based on my experience with Smartwings support, however, I expect that you could contact them to make arrangements to purchase a second remote if required.I have been using Smartwings blinds for several months and I have no complaints. They look good and function well.A note, re: the remote programming instructions: Don't pay too much attention to the "hold button for X seconds" or "wait for the LED to flash" bits in the manual. The only thing that counts is the blind "jogging". The instructions might say to hold a button on the remote for two seconds until the blind jogs. That really means: hold the button down for as long as it takes for the blind to jog. Could be much longer than the instructions say.

//Review update August 7th from 2 stars to 5 stars:After posting the bad review and explaining the issue, the customer service team reached out to me and sent a new motor to replace the old one. After replacing the motor, the Apple HomeKit works without issues (so far). Assuming that from now on ALL shades are sent out with the new/upgraded motor and the stability will not change - I can fully recommend these shades!I decided to buy this model ONLY because of high rating and HomeKit connectivity. The control through Siri/HomeKit was for me the most important feature for the blinds I was looking for.And this is exactly where this model fails. It works only 60-80% of the time. Meaning that 2-4 times out of 10, the blinds will not respond to HomeKit commands because "connection lost". Sometimes only one blind responds, the other doesn't. I'm forced to find the remote control... again, which completely defeats the purpose of this purchase for me. And yes, I have re-installed and re-paired the blind now 3 times following instructions of SmartWings customer support.Besides that, if you plan to install 2 blinds in a row next to each other, there will be a 2-3 inch gap, due to design of the blinds. It is unavoidable with this model. The issue is obviously that sunlight will go straight through this 2-3 inch gap and if positioned unlucky, it will shine in your face. Which also kind of defeats the purpose of these blinds..The solar battery is flawless though. Much more convenient than the standard option with cable. The fact that the blinds work with the remote control and they look ok, doesn't make it worse for to go through all the painful process of returning these and waiting another 3 weeks for new ones... so I will keep it. But I will NOT recommend it to anyone - avoid this product, if HomeKit control is important for you.

I ordered 3 motorized roller shades for our home. Smartwings was wonderful to deal with. They reached out a few times to ensure our order was right. I received them with in a week. They are simple to install. Great product and vendor…will order again.

The makers reached out to ensure the measurements were correct before proceeding with the order. We received the blinds in a timely manner. They went up easily, and though the instructions themselves were a little hard to decipher, everything was easy to set up and start operating. An easy recommendation for anyone looking for motorized blinds.
