This is easy to use. I think it a little light wait work wall but if I was using thicker leather might not be heavy enough

I do leather working on the side-some pretty high end stuff-and finally decided to try a snap press. I had been doing-or more accurately wrestling-snaps by hand for years. So, I thought I would experiment with an entry level snap press. I kind of rolled the dice and ended up with this model, mainly because it came with all the snap dies with it. So, this review basically has two components: the actual press and the snap dies themselves.Of the two, I would probably say I am more impressed with the snap setting dies than the press itself. They are actually pretty solid. They do screw on to the base, so every time you want to change snaps, you do have to screw off one die and screw on another. That can be a bit of an annoyance if you are changing multiple times in short order, but they do fit tightly when screwed on, so I suppose it is worth the minor time annoyance. My one know on the dies is that while they come in different baggies per set that are labeled, but dies themselves really have no markings on them, so don't open up all the baggies and dump them all out into a tool box, or you will spend an hour trying to sort them back out. I highly recommend either writing what each are what what snaps/rivets they go to on the actual die with a sharpie marker or else be very careful how you store them so you can easily reach for the die set you need or you will confuse yourself. There's nothing more annoying that grabbing a set and screwing them on, only to realize you confused yourself and and to unscrew them for another source. Just be aware of that going in and clearly mark them to save yourself later sorting headaches.Other than that, the setting dies are pretty solid for the money. They are obviously not as precision cut as something from Weaver Leather, but for an economy set for someone who is putting on occasional snaps, its worth buying this set just for the dies. DO KEEP IN MIND that not all snaps depending on brand will work 100% with the supposed die. It may be a "Line 20" die and you buy some Line 20 snaps from wherever. Depending on where you are sourcing your snaps, they may not work 100%. It's kind of like buying a XL T-shirt. Generally, they are all in the same ball park, but some designers an XL may run smaller than other manufacturers. I have found this is true for snaps. So, before you buy a big bulk of snaps, you might want to order a small test batch to make sure that Line 20 (or whatever size) snap will work with these Line 20 dies. They may or may not. That is pretty much true across the industry. Usually the high end snap press dealers like Weaver or Tandy or whatever will only guarantee their snap dies/presses will work with their brand of snap. BE AWARE OF THAT FINE PRINT.Now, for the actual press machine itself, given the price, it's slightly better in quality than some of the el cheapo presses for under $40 but certainly not a high end well manufactured machine either. The spring looks pretty solid. It does seem to have a longer handle than some of the cheaper models, which is good for leverage. It does have a hole in the base if you want to bolt it down to your work bench, which I would recommend you doing, otherwise it gets wonky on bigger snaps. For an entry level press for the money, again considering it comes with a wide array of press dies, I think it's a pretty solid entry level press system, particularly if you can snag on on a Black Friday sale or something, which is what I did. I generally would give it 4.2 stars for the money. The press itself 3 stars, but with the die attachment set, that raises it's value in my mind to slightly above 4 stars.

I use this press for rivet in bag making. My husband affixed it upon an old cutting board and viola! Press is strong and study.

The press was well packaged and arrived clean and assembled. All of the dies were bagged separately and labeled and I really appreciated the extra care taken there. I would have loved an option to purchase a larger range of dies but it isn't a huge deal to buy additional sets later. I tried the press and a rivet die and it worked perfectly. Really happy with the purchase.
