These 4” x 4” Classic Cedar Post Caps are a fine finishing touch for fence posts, mailbox posts, arbor caps, or even stand-alone garden posts for birdhouses/feeders. Mine will be used on posts in the garden, one for birdhouses and one that has 1 ½” dowels drilled through ladder-style for morning glories. Both caps will be oil-base stained for protection from extremes of weather.I come from ‘cedar country’ and find myself now surrounded by oaks. Natural cedar products are hard to come by here and I am especially pleased to find these well built caps available from Soaoo on Amazon. These caps are 3 ½” x 3 ½” inside dimension and are true square. They have a lovely, graceful profile via the 1” (interior) deep side trim and the ¼” high square cap at the crown of the cap. Overall height is about 2 ⅜” and the caps will snug down over your post 1”.The smell is so wonderful that these tow caps must live in the house with me for a few days before standing duty in my garden.

These caps are beautiful and just as advertised, except that I'm skeptical about them keeping your "posts warm in winter". Also, they are not 3" on the inside, but rather 3.5". They fit my old 3.5" posts a little loosely. (They're not crooked as the photo angle might make them appear.) They are the only "cedar" item that I've ordered online that turned out to be real cedar. I don't really know whether or not they will hold up outside without an added finish. Despite these corrections, these are really nice caps and would be great indoors, too.
