I tried 4-AAA 600 mAh Panasonic Batteries, then I placed it under a LED lamp, the red light was on. The next day I left it in the sun again. Then I got my next order in to charge 8-AAA 1100 HiQuick batteries with indicator light to be finished in an hour. Then I moved 4-Panasonic's to the HiQuick charger and they were still red being near dead.

Batteries too hard to insert and remove, but with help with a small screwdriver it can be accomplished.

It looks a little scary inside, my wires were not as nice and neat as in the photo. But that really does not matter at all as far as the usefulness of the product goes. I put a dot of Elmer's glue and prettied them right up. I also tied a ribbon which I pass UNDER the cells as they charge, making them quick and easy to remove. I sanded down the curved battery retaining tabs a little bit, which made everything easier. The box snaps shut fairly tightly, so I don't expect the cells to come tumbling out when I carry this thing around town on my car dashboard. A good solid four stars, and if I didn't have to do all the customizing, it would get five.

Wires aren’t packed neatly either - hanging off the sides, so even if it worked it’s so poorly made I wouldn’t expect it to last.

I did not like the fact that it doesn’t work. I did not like the fact that it’s totally useless.I did not like the fact that it was a total waste of money.

This works good for keeping batteries charged and ready for use on the road. Living in Arizona the direct sunlight heats the batteries more than I'm comfortable with. The heat will reduce the lifetime of the batteries, that's why I gave it 3 stars. It may work good for others in a cooler climate. In retrospect I should have figured that out before I purchased it. I'm keeping it since it may come in handy while I'm outdoors. Construction is good considering the price point.

There is really not much to it.Box is plastic with solar panels on one side.Small circuit inside.Takes all day to charge batteries(literally) but does work. Don’t know how long it will last as the same sun that powers it is bound to destroy the plastic at some point.
