  • PWM technology is a power electronic technology used in solar panels and other power generating devices such as wind turbines, fuel cells, etc. It aims to increase the output efficiency of these devices by enabling them to remain at the maximum power output point at all times through algorithms and circuit design.The PWM algorithm tracks the maximum power point in the solar panel in real time to maximize the effectiveness of the solar panel.
  • There are various PWM algorithms including open circuit voltage algorithm, short circuit current algorithm, hill climbing algorithm and perturbation observation method. These algorithms track the maximum power output point through different methods to achieve maximum efficiency in converting light energy into electricity.
  • In practice, PWM technology is able to increase the output power by at least 50%, although MPPT is still able to increase the output power by 20-30% despite the fact that it is affected by factors such as environmental influences and thermal losses when tracking the maximum power point. Therefore, MPPT is important for improving the energy utilization and economic efficiency of solar panels and other power generation equipment.
  • The PWM controller coordinates the work of solar panels, batteries, and loads in a PV system, and is the brain of the PV system. Currently, the industry has recognized the importance of multiple PWM channels for inverters, and string inverters with multiple MPPTs have been widely accepted.
  • The working principle of PWM can be summarized in the following steps: 1. Determine the reference and target voltages. 2. Measure the error voltage. 3. Calculate the control signal. 4. Output the control signal.
