Does not hold a charge, only works when the sun is shinning.

Purchased July 2024 and took a few weeks to get it put in due to the extreme heat.I have the same size solar fan but wanted to upgrade to a battery pack. My hope was to get some longevity during the hot nights. The battery pack worked, but the life is not very long. I never timed it, but it didn't make it too long into the night, despite having full summer sun. But hey, "something is better than nothing."On a few occasions I found it wouldn't be on and I'd have to hold the power button a few times to "wake it up". It'd have a full charge, but had somehow turned itself off.Winter came- my location is very mild so I kept it running. It's in a house-grade coop, fully insulated, as a backup exhaust fan and to help pull excess heat. It doesn't do much of either, if I'm being honest. But again, "something is better than nothing." However, once it had finally cooled down, I noticed it wasn't running again. Not in dire need of it, I didn't fickle with it.Now that we're getting some hot days I went to power it up. Nothing. No power. I got on the roof to inspect the solar panel. It's in perfect condition. I tried and tried, nothing worked.I pulled a solar panel out of my "junk pile" that's been in the elements for 3+ years. It powered the fan right up. I hooked this solar panel to another working fan, nothing. The solar panel no longer works. Unbelievable. Less than 6 months use.

The fan was simple to install. The solar panel keeps the battery topped up, and fan can run all night.Good design.

I am using this solar fan in my quail enclosure. The solar panel absorbs and stores plenty of power to run it through the night here in Florida. The speed of the fan decreases with less light but it still runs. I have the solar panel attached to my fence. The bracket feels secure enough, though I would obviously have to take it down during a tropical storm or hurricane. I used a 4” hole saw bit with my drill to easily install the fan in the nesting box section. It is great to have ventilation for healthy and happy quail! I definitely would recommend this product!

I have had it installed for a week now. The quality of the plastic and hardware is terrible. The fan and the solar panel are very flimsy. I suspect that the screws will rust within months. It does not feel like it will last very long. For the price, I expected better quality. The solar panel is very weak compared to others that I have used and the battery does not last very long. I only got a few hours of operation on some overcast days. The other major flaw is the fact that if the battery dies you have to manually turn it on again. This is no good for me because I am not around this location all the time and I want the fan to run whenver it can. The cables are good and the control box/battery seems to work well and the fan power was adequate for constant ventilation purposes - but not powerful.

The fan works very well and blows very hard when on solar power. Which is great for my need of keeping my chickens cool in the summer BT removing hot air from the coop and blowing on them like a fan outside of the coop. It even helps keep me cool when cleaning the chicken run. However when it is on battery power it has less than half the power. With that said the battery charges quickly thanks to the double sided solar panel( I have a white tarp under mine to help reflect the sun on the underside) and runs several hours once fully charged, Ive ran it for 9 to 10 hours on battery and it wasn't completely drained. I have noticed the light glitching that shows when it is on solar or battery which is frustrating because I don't want to waste the battery on a hot cloudy day if the birds need it at night. Also like most solar panels it doesn't work on cloudy days or heavy overcast. In all its a great fan and give it a try its better that anything I've tried cheaper.

I was looking for a fan to install in my chicken coop. There are lots of different routes to go and lots of different fan options. This product is a great overall solution-it is easy to set up and install, it has a battery, and it works. It checked all of the boxes. I'm glad I went with this product over others. It is plug'n'play. My chickens love it and now just sit in front of the fan all day.My only complaint is that if the battery fully drains, the fan does not automatically turn back on. You have to manually push the on button after the battery drains and is recharged--it won't know to turn itself back on when it gets re-charged. Not a big deal though.

This little solar fan is a trooper! I use it in my 8’ x 8’ chicken coop to help move hot air out in the summer. Worked really well! Easy to install with a few tools.

We got this for our chicken coop too cycle air inside during the summer. It works amazingly! The solar panel is decent size and the heat of summer and all the rain hasn't slowed it down. It runs on solar battery and at night it switched on its own to the battery. If it's cloudy, it will run on battery until the solar charges. It switches on its own. If the battery dies, don't worry. As soon as the sun comes out and the solar gets a charge, even if it's only 20% charged it will come on and continue to charge. Best thing I've bought for our coop.

I'm so glad I installed this in our metal shed. The shed stays a lot cooler during the day and quickly cools down as the outside temperature lowers. My only complaint is that plastic fan isn't completely balanced and vibrates a little. I wish I had tested it before installing it so I that I could exchange it. It's not big deal noise wise, only that overtime it will cause the motor bearings to fail and only way to fix the motor is to buy a whole new ecoCalm Solar Fan.

I've got a shed that I wanted to add some passive air flow to as it gets super hot during the summer months. I don't have power in the shed, and running a battery to power a fan and charging the battery (even on a weekly basis) didn't sound appealing. I haven't installed this yet as I've been testing it over the past couple weeks. It'll run off the battery for quite a few hours in the evening, charge in a couple hours during the day, and be ready again for the next evening. It'll run while charging as well, and from what I've noticed, once you have it installed, you don't need to turn it on or off each use. Once it's in the sun, it'll start the fan and charge at the same time. You can turn it off if you want, but I don't see a reason to. I'm going to extend the wires a bit as I need the solar panel in a different spot from the fan, but it looks like a simple 2 wire setup that won't be hard to splice.Overall, it's been working flawlessly over the past 2 weeks in constant use. I'll update after summer if any issues arise.
