Beautiful. It takes work though. It needs to be rinsed a lot. I found wearing rubber gloves rubbing it between my hands and rinsing it worked well. Doing it a lot, rinse, rinse rinse until water runs clears. Do a small amount at a time. It is so worth it. Then let sit in water overnight, and do it again the next day until the water is clear. It takes time, but so worth it. The gravel has a shine to it. It is beautiful in the tank. Though the rinsing process is long and hard, you won't care and will do it again, for how awesome your aquarium looks..

Bought this black gravel so i could easily see my shrimp. It has a nice sheen to it and cleaned up really well with hardly any "dirt". I'm really glad I chose black.

Sometimes its hard to tell about the shade of black when ordering "black" stones for an aquarium. These didn't match any of my others that I have purchased in the past. However, I preferred the darker color of these and they look nice when mixed in with the lighter shaded black stones I have been using. They really bring out the brighter colors in my planted freshwater 30 gallon tank. Hope this helps!

The paint on some bits does wear away since over time, but doesn't seem to have any ill effect on fishies.

It's not the worst gravel I have ever used in a fish tank, but I don't particularly like it. I can't say that I would buy this again. I always rinse my gravel when I get it and of course, majority of the coloring comes off. I have it in my 5 gallon Marineland Contour 5, a very elegant looking tank, and honestly, the gravel looks cheap because of how much of the coloring came off. I like the look of dark gravel, but next time I think I'll go the natural route to avoid the look I'm getting. Also, I don't know if I want to have gravel where the paint is coming off in my tank. I'm disappointed in this product.
