This is now my largest grinder, and it's a great size for those king-size cones. The grind is coarse and fluffy, which I thought was not ideal for my needs, but it actually seems helpful for my chronic canoeing issues. Who knew? I thought I needed everything more packed, more fine, but it seems I might have been going in the wrong direction. But this grinder takes awhile. After making swift work of the main flowers, it leaves the remainder unground for a long time. It actually helps to press down extra firm on the lid while grinding, but still takes too long. It feels good in the hands, and the large size is good, so I rate it a four-star value at $18.

This larger than average hand-operated spice grinder comes in four parts: a magnetic toothed lid; a toothed grinding plate; a screen-bottom chamber for the ground spice to collect in; and another chamber below that, where very fine dustlike spice particles sift into.The holes in the grinding plate are somewhat larger than other similar grinders, meaning you get a somewhat coarser grind than those grinders that turn your spices into powder. I prefer the coarser grind.This is a somewhat larger grinder with knurled surfaces to make it easier to grip while unscrewing the spice chamber or spice dust chamber, but I will admit that it's a little hard to get them unscrewed. Having large hands is advised.This grinder does everything it promises to do, and also offers a coarser grind that many people prefer.Recommended.

This is a bit larger (~1/2") than my current grinder. I broke the screen and needed a replacement.My first observation is this is completely smooth around the perimeter. This makes it a little tougher to unscrew than the kinds that are more gear-shaped but I can manage. The screen/kief compartment is below the screen- but the bottom also unscrews (as opposed to the screen lifting out of the bottom) and the screen looks adequate to filter out larger media.The top magnet is strong and holds well. I DO like that the center of the grinder is smaller than my old one- this means less herb finds it's way into it and doesn't get crushed when I start to grind. Also, I like the grinder pattern better- These are semi-diamond shaped grinder blades, my previous was semi-trapezoid which also took up more space, leaving less room for what I'm grinding.Overall, I wish this had better grip for opening- but also am very happy with this and hope it lasts as long as my old one did. I also very lightly sprayed the tip of a q-tip with silicone spray and put a very thin layer on the threads to help keep it lubricated and easy to open- especially once any trichs get inside and start to sticky it up. I don't know if it'll help, but it didn't cost anything to try.

Fair price for a spice grinder like this. Smooth operation, though these style grinders tend to gum up with those stickier spices over time. Has a screen to catch the very finely ground powder at the bottom. Sharp teeth have no problem breaking up those tight nuggets of spices. Only complaint is that the holes in the grinder are a little too large, it lets some rather large chunks through. You might need to grind it again or break it up a little more with your hands.

Wasn't sure what a 3" spice grinder would feel like since I normally use a standard 2". I was surprised at how huge this thing is! Takes up my whole hand, it's the size of a hockey puck but thicker! Because it's so big, you can grind a lot of herbs at one time which is so convenient. It has all the desired features you want in a grinder. The top portion with a pull off magnetized lid where you grind your herbs and a holding space to catch the ground herb which has a screened bottom to allow finer particles of herb to collect. It also includes a small plastic scraper to scoop out the herb powder. Looks exactly as pictured. If you are looking for a larger grinder, trust in this one!

This is an amazing grinder. It took me a long time to add one of these devices to my kitchen-gadget collection, because so many of them are made with either aluminum or some kind of plastic/silicone, and both of these things tend to leave little fibers behind — and I don’t want to eat that. This grinder is stainless steel, and extremely solid construction, with three separate containers linked together. The top one is the grinder itself, the second the screen catch, and the bottom catches residue. You just stuff whatever you intend to grind between the steel grind blades, secure the lid with the magnet, and twist a few times. The plants you grind fall through the holes in small uniform pieces that are caught with the screen — which is also excellent quality. The dustier, grainier bits fall through the screen into the bottom pan, and can be scraped up with the enclosed scraper if that’s your bag. Using this means I’m wasting a lot less of the plant I grind, and the flavor is evenly dispersed. It’s easy to clean, and looks attractive on a shelf. It’s also a really great size, so you don’t have to essentially grind the plant yourself first — this does all the work for you. Since this arrived I’ve been using it daily. Absolutely love it, 10/10. I received this grinder through Vine in exchange for an honest review.
