It is outrageous that a bicycle chain should cost this much. It does not matter what brand you choose. I have tried all the major brands and feel the Sram 1170 offers the longest life, rust control and works flawlessly with Ultagra.

Silky smooth shifts, just enough links for installation on my gravel bike.

Product was delivered promptly.Although I have an 11 speed cassette, I still had to take 6 links out otherwise it was way to slack.Once I’d sussed that out I was away….. 🚴‍♂️

When I got this chain I immediately cleaned it with a solvent, let it dry and then put it in the oven with wax.. moved it around in the wax and then pulled it out and wiped it down.. should last many many miles

The SRAM chains take good wear (and abuse). My previous PC 1170 had stretched after me allowing it to have way too many miles on it. Popped this new one on, and everything quietened down. It does come with a wax-like lube coating. If you look at online forums, some argue to leave this lube on for the first 100 or so miles, while others say strip it off immediately. They advise this because the wax can pick up dirt and debris. During the first 4 days of riding, this new chain will on the trainer, so I am leaving it. But before the Saturday outdoor ride, I'll strip it off and use Rocket Gold Lube instead.Disclaimer: I have bent for all things SRAM over Shimano. I like the shifting mechanism better.

I am normally a Shimano chain guy, but during the pandemic those chains were hard to come by. I used this on my GRX equipped drivetrain and was pleasantly surprised. It installs like any other change, and you do not need to worry about the directionality like Shimano chains. The included PoweLock is sweet, and works as well as they always do. It is just as quiet as other chains I use. I have a little over 1200 miles on it since installing it, and have had no issues. I consider this a good alternative, and will keep these in mind the next time I need an 11 speed chain.

I just keep buying them. They are a consumable. I have 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 speed bikes that I regularly ride. I keep one of each size spare chain. MTB chains wear pretty quickly. Road chains, 2500 - 3000 miles. Check their wear regularly (Park chain wear checker) and if replaced soon enough, expensive chain rings and cassettes last pretty much forever.

Five stars are not really for the actual chain itself or the shippers, but both are superb. What I give the five stars for is how well this chain works with the SRAM 1170 cassette. I had installed the cassette a while back but used a Shimano chain. I was never able to adjust things properly. I even had a LBS mechanic look at it. It made noise and never shifted properly. Most reviews (and the LBS) claim that Shimano and SRAM are interchangeable, and in some cases they very well may be, but when I bought this chain and installed it with the 1170 cassette, it was as smooth as silk. Yes, SRAM recommends this chain with that cassette, so I recommend you not ignore that.
