Even though Amazon gives its size in inches, this item measures only in metric units, cm and mm.

It is listed with inches ie (2 inches by 4 inches) but is totally a metric device with no inch markings at all. It is a quality item but totally advertised falsely. I would not have purchased it if I knew the truth.

It's compact, sturdy, and square. Perfect tool for the jobs you need those qualities for.

This stainless steel L-shaped ruler is a handy addition to my toolbox. Its compact size is perfect for small projects, and the etched markings are easy to read and precise. I’ve used it for woodworking and framing, and it helps ensure everything lines up perfectly. It’s durable, lightweight, and a must-have for any DIY or professional carpenter!

This review is for the GSDOXLE Stainless Steel L Shaped Ruler,2 inch by 4 inch, Square Framing Measuring Tool for Engineer Carpenter(Sliver).A handy small square. Sturdy stainless steel. Useful for measuring height from a flat surface. Note, the units are metric which is fine with me. If you require inches, look elsewhere.

This stainless steel L-shaped ruler is a handy tool, graduated in the metric system and well-suited for miniature building, leatherwork, paperwork, and general woodworking. It’s functional and gets the job done for most light-duty applications. However, it’s not a precision tool. The edges are not perfectly smooth, as the ruler was stamped out of sheet metal and was not ground as quality rulers and squares are. While this doesn’t impact its utility for casual use, those needing high accuracy or refined craftsmanship might find it lacking.

Metal length measuring tools are better over plastic due to their durability and being less susceptible to shrinkage. This measuring tool is good when it comes to measuring in centimeters and when needing a good right-angle; however, it does not have any English measuring markings. The product specifications stated that the tool has a 2-inch leg and a 4-inch leg; however, my tests indicated that is not necessarily the case. My conclusion: this tool is good for measuring centimeters and to provide a quick right-angle reference, but it is not good for measuring inches.

I initially got this thinking it would be occasionally useful in situations where my existing squares were too large. But even before it made it into the toolbox, I found myself using it multiple times while it sat on my desk after opening the package. The small side lengths and using the other side of the L as a handle came in handy when trying to do a couple measurements. I keep a 6" rule in my pen holder for such things, but found myself grabbing this instead. Very useful! The flexibility on the old rule was the only thing missing, but then the thickness is better for drawing lines and obviously working as a square. And checking squareness against my other tools, this one was spot on.One change, that I may end up doing myself, is that ideally the ends of the L should end at a fixed mark on the length scale. There is a small area of unmarked length on the ends, although both the inside and outside scales in the corners start at zero. A couple times I found myself trying to insert the ends into a limited access area trying to do a measurement and realized the unmeasured bit on the end made that impossible. I may grind the ends a bit shorter to be on the final 5cm/10cm marks. Of course I'll introduce a bit of manual error which would be eliminated if this were done precisely by machine during manufacturing. One bit of concern proved to be unfounded. At first glance, it looks like the hole and markings at the inside corner at misaligned. But when checked with a straight edge, they were spot on in both directions. It was just an optical illusion caused by the tiny bit of zero mark removed by the hole that smartly provides clearance for the inside corner.
