I won't lie. I bought this on a whim to see how it'd compare to its Monoprice-manufactured counterpart, and frankly I'm not impressed.Sure, it'll do the job in a simple configuration where swapping TX/RX pins is sufficient, but as another reviewer pointed out, pins 1 and 9 are wired straight through as opposed to 4 & 6 (opposing side) and disconnected, respectively. Will it make a difference in most applications? Probably not, but me? I'd rather just "buy once - cry once."You might also be fooled into thinking the thumbscrews are a redeeming quality, but sadly they're not. In fact, the threads are just barely long enough to screw into 4-40 female standoffs. Sometimes, folks, a silly millimeter CAN make all the difference in the world. My honest opinion? Heed the warnings of other reviewers and purchase a Monoprice 101137 instead, and get used to pulling out your "tweaker" every time you need to install and uninstall it. Ironically, the aforementioned alternative is cheaper than StarTech's offering by about 80 cents. Go figure. 9_9Three stars. Meh.Pinouts for the really curious:1 -> 12 -> 33 -> 24 -> 65 -> 56 -> 47 -> 88 -> 79 -> 9

Der Crossover Adapter tut was er soll. Ich verwende ihn primär zur Wartung von PCEngines APUs und Fujitsu Futro Thin-Clients.

Used this in conjunction with a USB to serial adapter to figure out what commands an integration system was sending over RS232. Worked great.

These are rugged, well constructed units, just like you expect from StarTech. Personally, I find these units to be fun for the whole family!

I keep one of these with me in a bag you never know when you might run into a router or switch with a DB9 console port.It works and it's a good insurance policy. These are easy enough to make on your own, but having a pre-made one handy is worth the purchase price. This simple cross over connector works as expected when directly interfacing two serial ports.

It works. What more can I say? it is an eggshell color, made of hard plastic and has four finger screws on it. Because it is a female 9 pin on both sides it has 18 total holes in it.(Reviews must contain at least 20 words about the product)

No problems. Simple connector. No problems with install. Device I connected to found it with no problems. Didn't even need the driver CD.

It's just a null modem adapter, but it was well priced and works just as it should. It came with some stand-offs, but I didn't need them. I needed it to join two USB to DB9 serial adapters, where one port is used for the main program and the other is an emulator of what's on the other end of the cable, like a local loop-back.
