Ended up putting a new starter, ignition module, starter relay and carb on a Kohler Troy-Bilt lawn mower. The summ of all parts solved the starting, and gave me a fast starting, smooth running engine from idle to full RPM in neutral or mowing. Very happy with the final result.

This solved my problem on my John Deere L111 riding mower. I also replaced the key ignition switchAt the same time since they are so cheap, those go bad and mimic a bad solenoid. Also the black ground wire on the key switch can come loose or corrode so check that also. I’ve had this mower for probably 17 years I got it new and the only thing that goes wrong normally are that key ign. switch and these solenoids and the wires can corrode so if this doesn’t fix your problem look to the keyed ignition switch connection first then replace.

Installed and wire up just fine...but just didn't work. Bolted onto mower just fine. My return window was closed...so didn't try for a return. My original part had the 2 standard battery studs, and one smaller stud for the positive wire from the switch. This part has two positive metal tabs (not threaded stud). Tried my switch wire in one position, then the other, and finally touching both at the same time. Nothing. Took it back off the mower and tried to hear it "click" manually when the solenoid engages with 12volts.....nothing. Not sure if the one I have is defective....or just not my correct part or what. These are pretty no-brainer parts...so? It is marked with a decal that reads "12 volt", so should have worked.? If you buy this....be sure and replace it quickly so you can return it if need be. I let mine sit for about a month...and finally got around to it....so that's on me.
