This is a neat little instrument. Learning to play a few songs on it was incredibly fun and addicting and when you get the notes just right, it's so satisfying. It has an extremely calming effect thanks to the beautiful sounds it produces. I wish the instruction manual came with a few more recognizable songs to learn, but overall, a fun purchase.

This is a present for my girl. It was funny when she opened it ip and looked baffled (what is this?). But when she made a few note by striking it, her face lit up with a big smile. The sound it made was absolutely delightful, very soothing and clear. The drum has an entire octave (C to C).

Bought this for my mother as a Christmas. Mostly to use as a rain drum.

This is advertised as C key, but it's in D according to my musically inclined daughter (I wouldn't have known). My other reason for only 3 stars: the center key is attached by only a thin piece as you can see in the pictures. This makes for that 5 key to easily get bent inward. The other tongue drum we have in a similar size is not like this - the center key is attached much more sturdily.Other than those things, it's a fun drum and my kids enjoy playing on it. The color is pretty and it sounds nice.

Hello there, nice to meet you! ;o)I've been collecting all kinds of steel tongue drums, and found the 6" class of rain drums a bit challenging in the tonal range. Thus, began a quest of finding the best tuned drums. That said, this particularly well made drum had the best harmony of sounds.I tested this music maker with a tuner app, and found that each tongue was a few cents off, but all of the tongues were in the same direction of cents off, which meant still beautiful tones-- with clarity without much reverberations, but in harmony in a different register. (I'm sure purist musicians will be tearing their hair out at this comment, so kindly be nice to me, as I mean well. ;o)The surface of the drum is nicely done, with speckled verdigris (blue-green coppery patina) type finish that I absolutely adore-- something that harkens to my earlier days of working with copper sculptures. The laser cut tongues are clean, without any burrs. I consider this drum one of the prettiest in my collection. The mallets provided have an olive shape rubber balls, not the round balls pictured in the listing, just so you know. The one negative I must mention:I must share something I've never said in a review before, and I'd admit it did temper my joy of receiving this wonderful sounding, beautifully painted drum a tad. I ordered this drum over a month and a half ago, with no word from the seller why the shipment kept getting delayed, and it did impact where I was residing in two different states. I simply couldn't track its whereabouts until it finally shipped from Arizona-- no less! I found out only the day before I received it from UPS from the seller. Amazon is terrific about informing you on your purchases whereabouts, but in this case, the delay seems to be at the seller's doorstep. I'm very understanding, but communication goes a long way in making us feel better. Off my soapbox, off my chest. ;o)Lastly, the cost of this drum at the time of my order was $39.99, which was rather high cost for a 11 note, 6 inch drum with accessories. My hubby encouraged me to order anyway as the malachite finish is my favorite color. I'm so glad it has come down about $15.00 off to a more reasonable/affordable $24.00 at the time of this review. Whew!Give this NBMICSO Steel Tongue Drum- 11 Note 6 Inches (Malachite) a try... I don't think you'll regret your purchase-- just be aware that your mileage will vary in terms of correct tones as each drum is unique, or possibly have a balance of notes like this one that is still pleasing! ;o)***********************************************************May Your Holidays Be Warm, Cheery And Bright! ;o)Cheerio and Best of Luck in all your endeavors! Hopefully, this review was helpful.

This drum is a nice little instrument, a very pretty color with a nice tone. It is smaller than depicted on the product page, at about 6" in diameter. It has three rubber feet on the bottom, which do a nice job of keeping it stable and preventing scratching whatever surface it sits on. The drum has 11 tongues, which cover the major D scale (though advertised as C-key), starting on the A above middle C. This gives you enough range to play a number of different songs recognizably. The sound is very nice and full, although the lower of the two "6's" (the lower B) is a bit muffled and doesn't sound quite right compared to the other notes around it. The drum comes in a durable canvas storage bag, with the two mallets (like drumsticks, little rubberish balls on the end), "finger picks", extra tongue number stickers, and a songbook. The "finger picks" are more like rings with mini-drumstick heads; regardless, they are fun to use and make it look like you really know what you're doing. The song book provides a peek into what I'd assume to be more common songs from another country. "Happy Birthday" is one of the songs, and it's close to what we know in US, but just a tad bit different (although playing it our way is easy too). It's fun to pick out songs on this, or just to play it randomly for that Zen sound - you can get a gentler meditative sound with the finger picks, trilling over the notes. Very nice idea. Downside: this seems to be more expensive than many of its competitors.
