They are known as the best of the best for a reason. I know they cost a little more but they are actually square. Unlike the cheaper models and it’s just not worth taking the risk of ruining your guitar. They worked great and I highly recommend them. The build quality is unmatched. They’re easy to use. The measurements are extremely accurate and they are a great value because they’re gonna last for years and they also have a warranty.

Check out some lurthier forums and you'll find some folks like these and others don't. You probably want to see for yourself. I paid $141.02 plus tax for the pair and recently I saw the Kisser alone on Amazon for about $55.00 so keep your eye on the price if you think it's too steep and you're not in a hurry to get one. I reckon StewMac is selling a lot of these so they may have found a way to reduce manufacturing costs. My other theory is that they have noticed everybody praising StewMac quality but complaining about the high prices. With LMII gone they are doing a lot more business I think too.Well made like all StewMac stuff, and they'll replace it free for life. Some users wear out these diamond files and feel that paying premium prices for the lifetime replacement guarrantee is worth it. I have clogged diamond plates before and got them working better by soaking in Simple Green type stuff and going at them with a nylon scrub brush.

If you have a buzzing fret, or two, or three, or four, get this tool. You are definitely going need a crowning file as well. Don’t want any flat spots on your frets.

I'll spare you the rhetoric and hyperbole...if you think that you need this than you do....if you don't think that you need this you are wrong. I have been doing my own work on my guitars for many, many years and I started getting lazy lately and wanted to take my guitars to professionals and have a few that are plek'd now which is great. I actually found a proud fret with this thing on a recently plek'd guitar that allowed to me dial it in exactly how I like it. I bought a guitar online about a month ago that was about 25 years old that was clearly a closet queen because it had never been intonated and frets had zero wear but had significant buzz all over the place. I was able to get the frets leveled and then crowned and dressed in about 2 hours and it plays amazing. I would have had to have leveled the entire fretboard in the past which is always a good time.It's not the cheapest tool, but it's precision, it's well made and most importantly it makes all of your guitars better.

I happened to see this at a lower (deal) price than usual so I snapped it up. I could get by without it and couldn't justify the cost at the regular price being I am not a pro. It just wasn't something I NEEDED but I still wanted because it makes it a LOT easier to level a fret or two vs. a full fret leveling job.Many sellers are copying StewMac tools but for any of the precision tools like FLAT fret leveling beams, any fret finishing tools etc. you want quality tools. I must admit I have tried a few knockoffs but am usually disappointed with the quality not to mention that some of the knockoffs are just junk. For example you will do (and I have done) more harm than good with a POS knockoff fret file. I have been lured away a few times by low prices but you get what you pay for - low price usually equals low quality and sometimes it equals junk. I should stick to only buying the StewMac products after-all I have been doing so for over twenty years. The only problem is that StewMac keeps coming out with improved and newer tools that make the job easier. I am not a pro I just have a lot of guitars and will buy some needing work and fix them up.You see I have GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) but unfortunately my wife makes me sell some when she can't move around the house without tripping on one. . .
