Our sturdy plunge router base turns your Rotary Tool into a compact plunge router—perfect for inlays, routing saddle slots, cleaning fret slots and more. The advanced design gives an unobstructed view of the cutting action.

It's very simple to set the precision depth adjustment, then plunge and raise the bit exactly that amount. Each turn of the knurled micro depth stop gives approximately 1/32" of adjustment, to a maximum depth of one inch.

Designed for stringed instrument work

  • Excellent control
  • Clear visibility
  • Maneuverable for accurate freehand work
  • Works with our Saddle Slotting Jig

Sturdy, compact, and adjustable: You can plunge-rout an inlay cavity that's precisely compensated for the thickness of the pearl and glue, for minimum sanding later.

The ball grips give you excellent control for freehand routing and easy operation of the plunge feature. The built-in LED light bar gives you a fully lighted view of your work. There's even a built-in nozzle for attaching a Mini Air Pump to continuously blow away the dust—you'll rout inlay cavities more precisely, for a better fit requiring less filler.

Installation is easy: Simply unscrew the threaded plastic collar on the nose of the Rotary Tool, and screw on the base.

Plunge Router Base fits these rotary tools with a 3/4-12 threaded plastic collar:

  • 100, 4000, 400XPR, Professional, MultiPro™ and most corded models made since 1986
  • Black & Decker Wizard™ and RTX™

Handy little router base, easy to adjust. The light & air line are nice features. I would have given 5 stars but I also purchased the SM sound hole and rosette jig, which is also a nice little tool...but the dowel pin for the jig was junk. rusted steel instead of SS and below tolerance per ANSI/ASME...not the end of the world, just had to order a stainless steel pin with a guaranteed tolerance from a separate vendor. I sent SM an email explaining my concerns but did not receive a response after a week, hence the 4 stars. Great little setup for fine work...just test before using, check your tolerances and replace the dowel pin! (Bushing ID should be +/-0.1880, dowel pin ID should be 0.1875, +/- 0.0001 '' Diameter Tolerance)

I was skeptical at the price for this item, but it is worth it. The light on it is very bright and has different settings. It light up the work area very well. The base is very strong unlike the plastic version and the depth gauge is cool. You can set it and them make micro adjustments with it. For example, if you have some material that you are going to inlay, you can use it to set the depth and then use the micro adjustment to ease down as you work. It is by far the best plug router base I have seen for a Dremel tool. If fits my Makita multi took, my Black & Decker multi tool, and my Galax Pro multi tool.
