It's not a light cassette, but if you're doing any real climbing, you'll appreciate the strength.

This is the second rear cassette i've upgraded to sunrace, and both of them are flawless, seem to be holding up despite the beating i've been putting them through and in both cases were lighter than the shimano cassettes they are replacing despite having a far wider range. With this 9 speed, I didn't really think it was going to work with the old STI/XTR derailleur, which IIRC maxed out at 28T, but this 40T fits, shifts and doesn't make noise, and since the previous owner already converted the bike from a 3x9 to a 2x9 I don't even have chain take up problems on the "big" chainring. So now I have a better granny gear than most people on 1x's while still keeping a reasonable amount of higher end as well for the flat areas, Thanks sunrace!

Birchriver WV. 1230 FT ..... 6 miles later top of Powels mt . 2358 ft. This climb has been on my bucket list for a while with several failed attempts. At 68 years young I soon figured out that the standard gearing I was trying to use just was not going to cut it. I started out with a low end Specialized Rockhopper and over a one year period replaced every component trying to achieve a bike to my liking. This cassette was the final piece of the complex puzzle . What I ended up with is a great ride that matches my abilities. Rockhopper aluminum frame. Stans Crest S1 wheel set .Sunrace triple crank set. 40 30 22. Modified to a 40 30 20 . Shamino Xt long cage 9 speed derailleur. Shamino front derailleur. KMC 9 speed chain. Also replaced the front hyd. Fork assy to a carbon gravel bike unit. The low gear is a staggering 20 40 split. 3.8 miles per hr.at 80 rpm. Slow to be sure but makes a 2.5 hr trip easy and best of all fun. The 40 11 let's me cruse at 23 mph. When the wind and grade permit. Shifting is crisp and quiet . Very pleased with this cassett. Highly recommend this set up for old farts like me that still enjoy riding. It's a shame the bicycle company's refuse to sell bikes with gearing more in line with real people capabilities.

This thing lasted me about 6 months. It has taken a beating tho. It’s not the most durable thing on earth, but for the price, I ordered another one to replace it. Good value for the money and gives my converted 1 x 9 spd MTB the range I need to tackle almost anything.

Good price, works fine. For the interested I was able to get this to work with a medium cage tiagra derailleur with the b-screw cranked almost to the max on a Surly Cross Check with the axle about halfway back in the dropouts. For the price it was worth a gamble and it totally worked. If you're second guessing whether you can make it work give it a shot - having the lower granny gear is definitely a big advantage.

Super affordable upgrade to my older full suspension. This made my 1x conversation super easy and affordable. I did not need an extension to my derailer. I will say 40t is probabaly the limit. My B screw is nearly all the way in, but it shifts up and down with no issues. I gained much appreciated leverage with the taller gears and am very happy with the end result.

Finally something more than a 36t cog. Makes a 1x system a better climber. Fits X-4 long cage/mountain without B-screw adjustment, reversal, replacement, nor even a hanger extension! Keeps your high gear plus gives you a much lower low gear :) They also make this 11-40 in an 8sp too ;)I hope this helps you, as I wasn't sure if this would fit my derailleur, but it does, so thank you!!

I replaced a Shimano 12-36 with this Sun Race 11-40.The bike has a Shimano Deore M591 long cage derailleur. It worked fine with the existing derailleur B-screw - I didn't need a longer one, just needed to screw in the one that was there. This cassette seems to sit somewhat further inboard than the Shimano cassette that it replaced.I had to adjust both rear derailleur cable AND front derailleur needed to be tweaked with this cassette.Once adjusted I'm very happy with the performance.Shifts well.Good range.Good price. The only thing wrong with this cassette is that it's heavy. If you care about that.
