Bought for putting nuts on 3/8" threaded rod. You can slide the rod all the way through and put a wrench on the hex portion. Exactly what I wanted. There is a little rubber boot inside that comes out if you intend to use it for this purpose.

This was not advertised as a spark plug socket. I had to drill out the rubber insert to fit it over a long stud with a 9/16 nut. Other than that it is a great socket.

I bought this socket to change the dreaded spark plugs on a 2012 Ford Expedition. The deep design was perfect for a safe removal of all eight plugs with no breaking of any of the plugs. The rubber insert held tightly and gripped the plugs for easy removal. I warmed the engine and made sure the socket was set firmly in place on the plug and loosened slowly. If you are careful this works great!

Worked well changing spark plugs for the 4.6l 3V V8 engine in my 2010 Explorer Sport Trac. I was surprised to find that the motor has a nonstandard plug size; neither the 5/8" plug socket I owned for previous cars nor the 9/16" plug socket that I picked up at a local auto parts store would work. So I ordered this one, and I was happy to find that it did the job just fine.I needed to use a few different extensions, and the jointed ones made a couple of the rear plugs easier, but it's not a challenging task as far as auto maintenance goes. All in all, it was a pretty straightforward job with this tool. It held onto the plugs securely coming out and going back in, which is the main concern with a socket like this. No problems with cross threading or anything, and I didn't even need anything to penetrate and loosen them before removal.A helpful reminder for this type of job: Just be sure you use some strong compressed air to blow out any wayward debris after you pull each coil but before you loosen the spark plug. You don't want those pebbles and dust falling down into the top of the motor. Or so I'm told.

I wanted to change the spark plugs in my Mazda 3 Skyactiv 2.0 and bought this after reading that it was a perfect fit for Mazda's deep and narrow space and it's 9/16th's spark plug size. It was a perfect fit! It has a rubber gasket inside it that picked up the old spark plugs and let me lift them out and it firmly held the new ones as I put them in. I definitely recommend it for any Mazda Skyactiv owner who wants to change their own spark plugs.

Bought this for a friend, for their 2013 Rogue. The one with the 9/16" hex spark plugs, and long insulator neck! Worked great and the rubber insert didn't pull out! I can't stand it when they do that! It's chrome-vanadium (CR-V) not Cro-Moly. You can zoom in and see CR-V stamped on the picture! Not a big deal, but just to clear it up. I actually like CR-V for this kind of hand tool application. It's really nice, a quality tool! I don't think you'll be disappointed in this socket! If you need a 9/16 deep well spark plug socket

This socket is very well made and perfectly suited to the dreaded Ford 5.4 3-valve plug replacement. I used with a combination of 5/8 deep and shallow well impact sockets (removing plugs) and a 3/8 extension for (hand starting and torquing). The hot plug method worked perfectly for me (see FordTechMakuloco on **utube - worked 8 out of 8) and the socket held up and worked flawlessly and held onto each of the plugs out after they were unthreaded with my stubby impact. I dreaded this job for a week and it only took a couple of short hours, including the test drive. Don't forget the nickel anti-seeze and the Motorcraft dielectric grease for the COPS. I can't speak highly enough of this quality tool.
